We have been working on potty training our 2 1/2 year old for about 10 days. He is doing really good sitting on the potty and also has figured out how to push out the potty. Most of the time he does go potty on the potty. He is waking up both in the morning and after his naps dry...so we feel like we are on the road to success here....
The only thing is...he is not telling us when he has to go potty. So I am just wondering if any of you Mom's out there have older kids that you have potty trained already....How long did it take from the beginning of potty training (the constant wet undies and wet spots on the carpet...) till the time when they start coming and telling you that they need to go potty???

Each child is different. My oldest we worked with for months, then one day he just had it 100% My second son took almost 2 years of working with him. My twin girls are now 2 1/2 and one of them told me all day one day every time she needed to go, but then we went to the store and they didn't have a potty chair and she was freaked out by the big potty and hasn't told me since... bottom line is that each child is different. If he can push it out, just take him every so often and have him try. Set a timer and do it every half hour or hour or something.
