I started my daughter when she was 4 months old and she was potty trained by 15 months. I would say whenever.

I believe you should start potty training when your little one is telling you he went pee pee or poo in his diaper.
My daughter is 2yrs and we are in the process of getting her potty trained. She has really been aware of her pee and poo.
I dont really see the hurry in potty training...

hope this helps!
and good luck with your little man and the potty:)
