Hi everyone,

I wanted to start up introductions. I am Heidi. I have 6 children with ages ranging from 2-24 years old. I have one who has graduated college and is looking for a job-bad time for that, another who is in college. I am homeschooling my 16 year old, 8 year old, and 4 year old. My 2 year old just benefits by us all being close.

My birth experiences have varied. I had my first baby via c-section. My second was born using a doula and doctor and after 18 hours of labor ,in hospital setting, Jeremy was born vaginally with no medication. I was just so afraid of having another c-section I was willing to do anything to have a vaginal birth and what a great thing that was. IT HURT, but the recovery was unbelieveable. I was up and about and ready to go the next hour after birth- nothing like a c-section. I planned a home birth the next time, but moved to Florida where they wouldn't do a v-bac at home. I got a midwife and delivered in the hospital. It was a great birth only about 3 hours of labor. The next two were with a midwife-I found the best kind of care giver-in a hospital. I had longed for a home birth and on my sixth birth I did it! It was unbelieveable. I couldn't believe how uneventful a birth could be. I was used to having tables taken apart, nurses walking in, bright lights, doctors walking in, and other people controlling what happened around me. This was very different. I went into labor continued my day as usual, started to scrapbook, pick music for when labor was more intense, I filled the tub for a possible water birth, had lunch and just hung out. 2 hours after the midwife arrived, Helenna was born in my bed and that was it. It wasn't messy at all- I thought it would be. I got up about an hour later showered and cuddled in bed with my new baby for the next 2 years. Ha ha ha.

I hope to hear some of your birthing stories and about your families.

wow, my name is Emma Nutting i am 24 years old and currently studying access to health professionals, so i can go to university and study to be a midwife in septeber 2012.
I have two little boys, Aaron is 2 years 3 months and Jaime is 11 months. Aarons labour was long 13 and a half hours, pre eclampsia, episiotomy as the cord was round his neck three times and he swallowed grade two meconium. Jaime however couldn't have been more different, they discovered i have a blood clotting disorder, but his labour was easy half an hour and three pushes. he was 6lb 12 oz and a week and a half early.

I am currently pregnant with baby number 3 it is a very difficult high risk pregnancy, my blood clotting is an issue as this caused me to lose three babies, im heterozygous factor v leiden, and am on 75 mg aspirin daily as well as twice daily injections of clexane (a blood thinner) into my stomach, and i had a scan the other day at 7 weeks + 1 day and they found i have a subchoronic haematoma so obviouisly i am worried.

Hello! I'm Patricia Rathgeber--everyone calls me Tricia. I'm 24 years old. I'm happily married to my gorgeous husband Derrick, who just turned 28 on Monday! Together we have 2 beautiful children, Evelyn Rose, who's 5 & 1/2 and Maverick James who's 2. Evelyn is in Kindergarten and Maverick is almost finished Potty Training.

We're expecting our 3rd child--I'm around (only) 2 weeks pregnant!! This is a dangerous pregnancy that we're keeping a real close eye on. I've recently become a Cardiac patient, and I have Hypertension stage 1 borderline stage 2, a bleeding ulcer, kidney infection; among other issues. Thus has made me extremely depressed--so I've sought therapy, which is helping--with in home session to help, which it so does! This pregnancy was a total surprise and blessing. All the medication I was on weakened my birth control, and when i got the results back of my weekly (yes weekly) labs--June 4th--I found out I was VERY early pregnant!

Thank for reading, please add me, I'm online alot--we own a graphic design company, email is our lifeline, LOL.

Hi Crstal,

It sounds so nice to bring your grandmother in th room with you. They should let you- most hospitals allow for that. For the experience to be super nice for both- make sure you learn about the hospital you are going to and read lots about labor to prepare and allow you Grandmother a beautiful experience. So cool. There is a book called the Bradley Method of Child Birth and it is good for natural childbirth and anything by Dr. Sears is excellent. Remember this is a great place to ask questions because lots of mommies with experience.

Hi everyone!!

Heidi already knows me, but for those who don't: My name is Monica I am 29 years old, I moved to Florida about 2years ago, with my son and husband. I have a 4year old, and a brand new baby girl which is only 3months old.

Both my babies were born vaginally, with no drugs at all!!(very proud of that) The first one (Franscisco), my labor started at 2:30 am, and at 3:45am he was born. With Bianca, also with no drugs labor started at 10am and at 12:30 pm she was brought into the world.

Yes, I admit I am part of the lucking ones who had two great births experiences, fast, with no complications, and no drugs, might even try for a third!! :)

For me giving birth, bringing a new life into the world is amazing, wouldn't change anything, and can't see myself not having them in my life.

For all you new mothers: When your first baby is born, remember that feeling, It is amazing!!!

Hello Heidi and everyone else in this group. I am Crystal. I am about 17 weeks pregnant with my first child. So this is a very new experience for me.
At the moment, we are planning to have the baby in a hospital. If at all possible my adopted grandmother will be able to experience this with us. She is a wonderful woman who has babysat and pretty much raised me since I was 6 weeks old, but was never able to have children on her own. I am hoping the facility will allows her to be in the room with my husband and I. Its something I want to share with her before she passes away if I can...She'll be 92 when the baby comes.

Ok anyway, a little more about me. I live in Kansas and have for all of my 26 years. :) Though in the past few years I have moved around a bit. My husband and I have been married for about 3 years. Everyday he is getting more excited about the baby, which is a good thing. I kind of sprung the news on him. :)
