Hi all! This is an odd question & I've googled it but haven't really gotten what I am looking for, I am wondering if I should call my Dr. or just talk to her about it at my next visit (if it goes away that is). This is my second time being pregnant & I didn't experience this with my 1st, but lately I get almost a contraction like feeling in my vagina...it almost feels like my body is doing really intense Kegels all by itself - its not painful at all its just weird, has anyone ever heard of this or had this happen to them?
Thanks in advance!

My doctor thought I might have been constipated as well it turns out I'm also not drinking enough fluids which in this heat is not a good thing...apparently dehydration causes muscle spasms which can include contractions! I don't normally drink soda but for some reason crave it when I'm pregnant & there has been days where I only had a few glasses of soda & my doctor said soda doesn't count only juice or water so it was like I was depriving myself of fluid those days! Now I'm trying to make an effort to drink more. Fortunately for me I have a great mom, dad, & step mom - I was stressed about everything I needed to do around the house & said the doctor told me I should be taking it easy off my feet for the next few days while I load up on liquid - so my parents took turns coming over & helping w/ housework & my 1 yr old today! I felt better so I decided to walk my dog around the block bc I felt bad that she hasn't been out as much but I started getting the contractions again so it looks like I won't be walking to far still for a little while.

I ended up having to go to the hospital for the pain I was esperiencing as my OB is on vaca this week. I went in and found out that the pressure in my cervix is actually a very severe case of constipation, a partial blockage and back - up I urge anyone who is having constipation issues not to blow it off like I did as a normal pregnancy symptom.

I will be taking milk of mag 2xs a day until I have a normal movements and then need to take colase until I deliver and probably for awhile after. It's important that you not blow this off as it can be very serious and EXTREMELY painful.

Wow Laura, reading your post was like hearing my own! lol I delivered my first at 37+6, he was small but completely healthy. This time, I too am having some uncomfortable aches down there. I had been describing it as that raw feeling you get the first time you have sex in a really long time! Not painful, just uncomfy! And at my last appt, they said the U/S showed I have low Amniotic fluid levels, so I am of course worried, though the Dr. pretty much wasn't! I am actually hoping this little guy comes early also since my husband is scheduled to deploy around the same time as my EDD, though I am worried that there will be complications! Last time was almost too easy is what I keep telling myself! How can I possibly get lucky enough have a second easy birth?!

I agree with that! Mine worsens with walking and movement, especiall when I bend down to pick up my 19mth old son. I am also going into nesting mode cleaning much more than usual which doesn't hel p either that and no nap for the last three days is catching up!

Thanks so much Laura! I am glad you understand what I mean, I hope everything goes well for you too & hopefully your baby will stay in place for as long as possible. I dropped my 1 yr. old off at daycare this morning which helps a little because at least I am not on my feet all day - I'm hoping once I pick her up I don't start getting the pain again - it seems in intensify when I am moving around more.

Ashley-

I went into labor with my son at 37 +6 My water broke and was having no pain what so ever. I didn't start having contractions until they started me on pitocin. I would just keep an eye on it, I have been having simular pains with only a reminder that with second pregnancies come more aches and pains. So I have not said anyting to my provider about the pain that we both have been experiencing.

I also feel you on the stress I am there also. I am sitting here worried about how big my baby is, everyone says they don't give me until mid Oct to have her! I just keep saying I just want her to stay in until at least 32 weeks! Then maybe they can give me the steroids for her lungs. I am very nervous about early delivary this time as well. I'm here if you ever need to talk!

I finally called & spoke with a nurse today. She did mention something about the hip bones separating, but she didn't think it was that because she said I'm past that point in my pregnancy. She wasn't really concerned considering I wasn't having any pain. But I have been under a crazy amount of stress lately & sure enough later in the day I started getting what felt like contractions, pain in my pelvic area, lower back pain, pressure, & I've been seeing stars from feeling faint. I worry bc I went into labor 3 1/2 weeks early w/ my 1st & they say if you have one early your more likely to have the next as well, as long as stress, and sometimes the heat can cause pre-mature labor. So I called the dr. on call a little while ago & he basically was like "your just having braxton hicks - its your 2nd you would know if your in labor" I tried to explain that w/ my 1st she came early I only went to the hospital bc my water broke & I went from having no pain for the first 5 hrs to such bad contractions I got an epidural right away. He didn't make me feel any better seeing as some woman get contractions before their water break. So I guess I'm just gonna suck it up & unless I have excruciating pain not worry about it.

I have been exeriencing this for aprox 3wks now off and on it is not all the time. It is your hip bones starting to sparate to make room for when you deliver your baby. My doctor said that the pain is perfectly normal. It could also be your cervix softening, mine did it as early as 24 weeks my last pregnancy it is really uncomfortable. I would talk ot your OB just to be safe and see if it is worth getting a physical exam to make sure all is well.

Hope this helps!

I have had something like that too but thought nothing of it... I am having my second child and I also had the same thing with her... I don't think it is anything to worry about but if it puts your mind at ease definitely call the dr... There are no stupid questions when it comes to this stuff and I'm sure it has happened to other moms-to-be so ask and let us know what your dr says... I think it is probably just hormones... But I would ask just to be safe...
