Mirena?

I had the mirena after my first son i had it for about 6/7 months got it removed because i had to get cysts removed. But i had no problems with it all it was great i got it the last day of my first period after baby, i got one more period 4 weeks later and tehn never bleed again, it was WONDERFUL haha. In 2 weeks on March 8th(my oldest 2nd birthday) im getting the Paraguard IUD. Its a copper 10 year IUD and has no hormones. Because i get cysts the hormones from teh mirena made them worst, and the fact i dont want any more kids anytime soon is why i chose to get the 10 year IUD.

It you dont have any problems with the extra hormones then the Mirena should work for you, if not then get the paraguard

I actually had the mirena in for about a little over 1 month,its been better than actually taking birth control.you should try it,if you don't like it the doctors will take it right back out.

I had Mirena inserted at my 6 week check up. The insertion was painful for me. I've had it for almost 2 mnths and I've been bleeding since than. Which means I've been using a tampon for this long ugh!! I'm gonna have it removed.

I did get Mirena and have not had any problems. I haven't had any bleeding but then I don't usually when breastfeeding. One thing the midwives told me is they have found if placed before 8 weeks post they usually fall out.
Placement was uncomfortable but not painful and I love not having to worry about a pill every day.

my cousin had one inserted after her last baby and a few weeks later it fell out. so she went back in had it reinsterted.
She was told that the mirena's last for 5 years and that she wouldnt have a period in that time.
At my 6 week check up my dr and I spoke bout the different birth controls and we agreed that the pill would be best for me. He put me onto the Levin.

Thanks for posting this one, I am thinking of using it also since it is ok to use when breastfeeding. My midwife said she is currently using it herself. She loves it. I am going to give it a try. Appointment is Thursday.

I used Mirena after my 2nd child and loved it! After a month or so my periods stopped completley. I had it in for 4 years and then decided to try for a third. I conceived within the first month of removing it and I plan to have another one put in at my next visit to the dr. I had no side effects at all other than my period stopping.

I personally didn't like it. It made me spot/bleed for 4mths before I had them take it out. My husband and I just used condoms and kinda did the family planning method where we would do it around my ovulation without condoms. I also have a friend that when it was close to her 5yr mark got pregnant and didn't know it! but now that we have had our 3rd girl my husband is getting a vasectomy!

I'm in the same boat as you, and I was debating between Mirena and Seasonique, but I'm not breastfeeding. I was on Desogen when I got pregnant, so maybe Seasonique may not be the way to go for me. I've heard nothing but good things about Mirena, so I may go with that.

My cousin got pregnant on it, and I was on depo when I got pregnant both times but this time around I was going to do the IUD but ended up with the implanon implant that last 3 years.

I have the ParaGard (I just had our son in November) and I'm just getting my period, its been heavy for 4 days now. I'm also having bad pain with mine but I have also only had it in for about a month so far. So it could all change and get better..... but I'm also breast feeding

I used mirena after I had my daughter who is now three and have my appointment to get it again next week. I had amazing results with it. I had no side effects. Theres was a little cramping for a few hours after having it put in. Some people say that it can cause weight gain but I didn't have that problem. After about 5-6 months my periods were slim to none

I used mirena after having my daughter 3 years ago, and I am having it put back in at my 8 week check up. I also suffer from heavy periods and found that the pills and depo shot only made it worse. I have had amazing results with the mirena! I didn't have any side effects from it, for some people it makes them gain weight.
