Which are you choosing (have chosen) for your little one?

Tell us why you made this decision?

For preschool, I'm doing homeschool through a program called Chalk preschool online. They have around 10 different traditional preschool locations around the country and just launched their online school. So far my daughter loves it and I'm pleased as well.

For pre-school my daughter is going to a private school. Because I liked the days/hours. She only goes 2 days per week for 3 hours. Next year in 4 yr old preschool she'll go 4 days per week for 3 hours. But when she starts Kindergarten she'll go to a public school. All the public schools around here also go all day, even at kindergarten.... but I don't want to put her into a religious school and that's the only option for private schools here.

It's still a ways off for my son, but I'll send him to public school.

One thing I am concerned about is that by the time he's ready for Kindergarten, it will all be full-day programs, and that seems like a lot to me. Too much.

I'm not sure how much the teachers would like it, but I think I'll keep him home part of the time, even if school is running. As if a 5-year-old needs to be in school from 8:30-3 every day!

I feel like I've had an overview of all three options: I was homeschooled K-grade 7, then went to a private school for grade 8, then public high school (except one semester at a private high school)

My son is in private preschool at the moment. It's the only school that has a 2 day/week option over 5 days. I made that decision for 3 reasons.. I didn't feel he was ready for 5 days/week (he still isn't), I couldn't afford a preschool that had a 5 day/week option other than Headstart, Headstart times didn't work for me since it's 8-1 and when I work I work 7:30-2...

He will go to this same preschool 5 days/week next year since he will qualify for Preschool Open Doors which will cover the bulk of the cost.

From K on he will most likely go public. I contemplated sending my girls to his school next year since it goes preschool to 12th grade, but decided that they will be going to the public middle school. I'm not ready for 6th graders!!! ;)

My daughter is in a private school. I want her to learn about God and grow deeper in her faith. The school she's at was also my grade school and I've volunteered/ taught there off and on since high school.

I'm leaning public too, for my son. He'll be starting next september. There's two public schools close by. One ranks 4.1/10. Hrrmm. The other ranks 7/10. So I'm pretty sure we'll be going with that one.

Ashley, are you in Canada too?

Public, where I live the public school system is very good and tends to be competitive with the world academics... however we do plan to move communities within our city to get our kids in my favorite highschool when the time comes.
