Wow. Yes. Lets just stop supporting them all together. Honestly what good is a low cost cervical exam? I had a friend (since sixth grade - we had known each other 20 years) that finally went for hers and was diagnosed at 3b cervical cancer. Had she been earlier or had known that planned parenthood could have done it for her, she might be alive today. In fact, the cancer is a slow cancer so I could have called her on her birthday this year instead of holding a picture and crying instead.

Evil people do cervical exams, right? Who cares if women die from cervical cancer as long as their politics are "right".

Yes, I've gotten birth control from them. Yes, I've had pap smears from them. That evil woman even did a breast exam on me too, to make sure there were no lumps. They are often better priced than an insurance co-pay (white male panel has decided that birth control is unnecessary) and if you're uninsured (as I am - self employed) they are the only way to go.

Progesterone only birth control is the only thing I've found to regulate my severe PMS. PP is $30 a month, private pay is a lot more than that.

Until you get on the universal health care bandwagon (and I assume you're not), planned parenthood will have to survive. Of course, if you don't want women to have access to pelvic exams, pap smears, and breast exams then that's fine. I will never, NEVER, understand how a woman can feel justified in denying other women's right to basic health care - I'm not talking about abortion! Pap smears, breast exams, get it? UNDERSTAND? I just don't understand this whole "culture of life" thing when part of it is to deny a quality, cancer-free life to women already here.

Cervical cancer is a terrible, nasty cancer. She was in pain. She wore diapers in the end. She couldn't talk. She couldn't stand. My God, if you have once ounce of compassion, you'll want other women to NEVER go through all of that. Lest of all, I sincerely hope NONE OF YOU EVER GET IT.

Oh, the above poster is right! I had a friend that went through PP for her abortion because it had the cheapest option - they had the no sedation or pain relief option. It was a cheap procedure and she PAID FOR IT. Check around PP isn't much different price wise (with sedation, etc...) than the profitable places. I think its time people look at ALL the facts before making uninformed choices.

I am really worked up, for which I will make NO apologies. I saw her dying, I was a part of her last and final days from afar (Seattle to Dallas) That was painful. I miss her. My God, I miss her every day.

i can't believe i used to go to planned parenthood to get birth control back when i was 20. i never knew how evil they were...but once i found out i stopped going! my sister went there when she found out she was pregnant for her first baby to get a test done. they confirmed it and since she was young and not married their only suggestion was abortion!!!!!!!! she told them that that was NOT an option and they then told her they couldn't help her. how sad.

I guess the fact is if they can't have an abortion there they'll go elsewhere anyway and it comes down to the individuals. I guess in most cases PP is helpful and a good place for someone to seek help. But like anywhere you go there's likely to be someone who's not very helpful and makes it a bad experience. I'd rather birth control be easy access for people so that there is less chance of someone having an abortion

Wow. Planned parenthood makes u pay out of pocket for abortions. I've had two kids and went there both times. Not once did they suggest an abortion. At least where I come from... They are here to support women. Free breast exams to prevent cancer. Uterus and pelvic exams for the underinsured people. So they can screan for diseases and such. Cheap birth control. What's wrong with that. They do not stand for abortions! They just offer that as a option. And out of all the things they offer there. Abortion is the one thing that a person must pay for! All these companies that donate to them are donating for the breast and vagina and pelvic exams. Not abortions. I know people who went there for abortions and it's 600 plus dollars to get one there. I've had check ups , birth control, pelvic exams and breast exams at no cost. These companies don't pay for abortions.... The people choosing to abort do!

Thank you for posting this. I can't believe how many corporate leaders think Planned Parenthood gives prenatal care! Try calling them up one day and ask some questions as how to conceive a baby, what you should be eating and other ways to take care of yourself in order to bring a new life into the world.

Not all Girl Scout councils donate to Planned Parenthood.  Check with her council before you decide to pull her out.  They may not be giving money to Planned Parenthood.
