Best treatments for sensitive skin?
Whether it's a sunburn, bug bite, rash, or some other skin ailment, little ones with sensitive skin are particularly difficult to treat and protect. What are your tips for protecting a young one with tender skin?
I use Apriori products on my children because they are organic and heal their dry skin. I also love their anti-aging line!
In our house we use Mineral oil. My son is six and we still have to use Dreft for his clothes. After his shower I spray him down with mineral oil and then towel dry him off.
Eucerin with oatmeal worked really well for my daughter with skin ailments and rashes...Both the wash and the lotion. For sunburns we use Solarcain aloe gel and bug bites we typically use cortizone 10.
we as a family have sensitive skin, we now only use all natural homemade goat milk soap, it healed up my husbands eczema, and my skin and its the only thing we use for the baby.
My now 16 year old daughter was so sensitive that EVERYTHING gave her a rash...I had to use the most inexpensive store brand diapers, Huggies "leak guards" gave her a horrible rash on her back. I had to make baby wipes from paper towels and Phisoderm wash, which it still available, I think. Great product, only thing that didn't make her break out in hives! We still use sensitive skin products, lots of hypoallergenic stuff out there, check your health food store and Internet. We also used lots of hydrocoritsone. Use a spray bottle with warm water for diaper changes on rashy bottoms, pat dry.
Both of my boys have eczema. I didn't believe in "going green" until I tried. Using non caustic, more natural detergent, lotion, and body wash really did it. I was shocked to see their skin issues clear up. Once I bought a regular detergent, because it was on sale, and they both ended up with horrible patches of eczema! Proving that the more natural, gentle stuff works for them. In the winter they still sometimes get rough patches on problem areas, behinds and calves, so I use a topical ointment by the same company I know buy my other "green" stuff from. I put it on the problem patches before bed and in the morning it is cleared up! Amazing!
