With my son, I settled with a bland, gender neutral diaper bag that had no storage, and was just a duffle bag dressed up as a "diaper bag" essentially. We ended up wearing through it really fast too, because it wasn't the greatest quality. When I had my daughter, I figured that it was time for an upgrade. I'd been drooling all over the JuJuBe diaper bags for years by that point, and the only thing stopping me was the epic price tag. After a rather frustration bag explosion (packing for two means a bigger bag is necessary!), I took myself out and invested in a JuJuBe BFF. Best decision, ever! The bag has gone through multiple overnight trips, many playdates, and still looks brand new. I can pack it as full as my heart desires, and still have room left over for my stuff- my wallet, lotions, keys, gum, even a book! Not to mention, the patterns are to die for! Definitely worth every penny spent!
I love the large Miche bag I have. holds alot and looks really nice - you can change out the covers without having to buy a new bag all the time. www.michebag.com
I love my messenger "Valiant" bag from King Bag Company - made in Oakland, and all from upcycled car seat covers and seat belts. Super sturdy and always an ice breaker - http://kingbagcompany.com/
Who says a mom can’t be stylish and practical?
A mom’s bag has to be full of everything you and your kids need for every situation when you are out and about every day. I usually carry everything but the kitchen sink on my shoulder and my husband constantly complains that he can’t find anything in my over-packed “Mary Poppins” bag. So I have recently organized the contents into individual clear bags for diaper changes, snacks, baby toys, toddler cars and trucks etc. and placed it all inside a stylish leather tote bag from Zara. It has black patent leather side panels and contrasting short handles for over my arm nook and a long strap for over my shoulder. A stylish solution that my husband is happy about!
Canadian satchel designer Theresa Hart creates unique one of a kind bags for busy mom's for a reasonable price. She'll make clients custom designs to suit their personality. My life-long (fun) hero is Pippi Longstocking so she created a bag especially for me. Love it!
I am in need of a bag, and I am considering one of the heavy-duty bags from Lands End Canvas. It looks durable, neutral, practical and has some style to it.
I love Marc by Marc Jacobs totes, and I personally use one that is a faux snake print leather which is easy to wipe off (the Sneaky Snake Franny Embossed Tote). Nordstrom, Zappos, and Piperlime generally offer a great selection of this brand's handbags. Because they're pricey, you can look out for the Piperlime sitewide sales or discount coupons. I'm also a big fan of bags that have a lifespan beyond the baby years, so we did a roundup of "who said anything about baby" baby bags.
Lululemon is known for their flattering and stylish yoga and workout clothes, however I’ve scored some really great kid-friendly bags. Like this one… the DTB Duffel with plenty of room for stashing diapers, spare clothes, keys, snacks and the iphone or ipad. The best part is the DTB Duffel bag is water resistant for the inevitable tippy cup explosions.
While I don't carry a diaper bag anymore because my son is 4-years-old, I do carry around an oversized bag to fit all of his things in them. I love oversized bags that are stylish and I'm currently obsessed with my brown leather one from Urban Outfitters.
I was carrying a large bag around, but recently at work one of our patients came in and she had the cutest purse. It was a cotton fabric and it was colorful but not crazy! I was extremely surprised when she told me it was a diaper bag.
This was a young lady in her twenties who did not have any children and she loved the purse because of the organization it allowed her. So many pockets and places to organize her makeup, cell phone, wallet and yes of course coupons. It did'nt look like at diaper bag, it was black and white design. Since then I have made several searches and have come up with expensive to affordable!
I think LeSportsac bags are the most stylish. They are light weight, durable, and have tons of patterns and styles to choose from.
I love Roots leather bags. www.roots. The Schlep is an amazing bag. I also love http://www.magz-bagz.com. Both Canadian companies.
No! If it exists, I haven't found it yet or I can't afford it. I always end up carrying two bags if I'm with the kids. I did find a way to do a great DIY camera bag though. Check it out!
I am a crazy Mama Kat of three kids plus one man-child so you can imagine how much 'crap' aka possessions I get lumped with. I live an hour away from the local shopping centre (I am also a city turned country chick) so I try to do as much shopping online as I can.
I buy my bags and shoes online from bettyshoe.com because they do free shipping, and they are inexpensive AND are inspired by fab designers and vintage looks. In pure awesomeness, they also now sponsor my blog! yippee!
I just bought my first Kathy Van Zeeland bag in a shopper style at TJ Maxx in a neutral taupey/bronze color which is very mom friendly since it will be tossed into my SUV constantly. I love the two outer front pockets (one zips and one snaps with a magnetic closure) which are perfect for my Droid and my car keys. It also has two inner zip up compartments and is divided into two larger areas. My girls are school now, 1st and 4th, so I don't carry around sippy cups and diapers in a diaper bag any longer but I still need a great, roomy bag but one that is not TOO big. A medium size bag is perfect for me. If you find a bag you love, go for a fun color (red, plum, turquoise) It's something you carry every day, so why not have a little fun with it!
Definitely the Longchamp tote bag!
Living in Montreal, I have tons of Matt and Nat bags - and they tend to be huge...not to mention fashionable ( and vegan)
I've been eyeing these super chic Ikabags for a while now and think I may put one on my birthday wishlist. They are eco-friendly and perfect for moms on the go, with a bunch of pockets and a waterproof lining. Plus they're made in France! Tres chic, indeed.
I have a gigantic, Guess bag that holds everything! I even showed its messy interior today on twitter :-)
