And, how do you explain the dead beat father to an inquisitive little girl? Especially when she asks why he doesn't love her....

I wish it was easy to legally terminate rights. I would do it in a heartbeat.

As for how to explain to your little girl why her father doesn't love her, I'd say try the truth works well, just watered down. Tell her what her father was like, and that he doesn't love you either. If it makes it easier, tell her that he does love her, he's just too angry to have anything to do with her.
