Pooping in the potty

I have a very smart, strong-willed 4 year-old son. He has been potty trained to pee in the potty for over a year. Everyone kept saying the other would come. Well, it has not. He will sit on the toilet but that is all. He says he can't push it out. We have tried everything that we know of to help him, including talking, reading, suppositories, Miralax, and Fletcher's laxative. He will go for days without going but he makes everyone miserable with the whinning and crying. Any suggestions?
