Beef Allergy

My daughter Samantha is allergic to Beef and Peanuts. We have the hardest time with the beef allergy, more so than the peanut. They seem to sneak beef into a lot of things. My MIL accidentially bought Turkey hotdogs, that snuck beef in them. It was listed on the back, but she didn't know they would sneak it in like that.

Anyone else have kiddos allergic to beef?

A friend of mine thought her son was allergic to beef for a couple years, but only just found out that he is actually allergic to albumin (sp?) which is a blood protein. It is very uncommon in kids. They used to feed him chicken and turkey, but now know that albumin in also in that, as well as feathers which may be in a pillow! Anyway, it was hard to have diagnosed. They actually had to go to Mayo Clinic because it couldn't be tested in a typical allergy clinic. I've never heard of this, so I thought I would pass it along...

Hi Wendy! I didn't know poor Samantha was allergic to beef. As you know, Sara has multiple food allergies and beef is one of them. We are still working with her on getting her to eat meat, but we find that Oscar Meyer often has beef free versions of hot dogs, bologna, etc. Just keep reading labels and you will find something out there. Good luck.
