My children are allergic to wheat. Luckily their outbreaks have not required the use of an epi-pen, but the thought always scares me. They have other allergies, but they react most to wheat. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your comments.  They are not having any breathing difficulties, but they do break out in hives on their face.  They also have swelling in their eyes.  I will look at some of those websites for celiac disease soon.  Thanks!

Is there anything in particular that you are most worried about?  What sort of reactions are they having?



 



I always carry Benedryl thin strips and leave them where ever the boys are just in case.  This way you can get them started on an antihistimine on the way to the ER if a nasty reaction does happen.

My son was allergic to wheat and I found it so difficult to find pre-made foods that he could eat. You might want to check out some websites for celiac disease. When you have celiac disease you can't have any gluten which is in wheat. I also know that if you go to natural food stores there are lots of gluten-free foods available. Good luck!
