i am always happy when my hubby home, but sometimes the way the kids react to daddy when he has been gone for looong periods of time is interesting, very rarely the hallmark moments like shown on tv... my daughter was scared now my son was happy but confused... how do your children handle reunions?

Hi, I don't want to sound like a know it all but i am a little older and this is not my first rodeo, lOL....

I am guessing you have young kids right? Well, young kids need to have consistancy in their lives. They know when mom gets up we are going to eat or whatever, but when dad is gone it is natural for the kids to pull away for a bit. I would say to you not to push them, let them come to your husband. Kids don't have a long memory so for you and I 20 minutes is not long but for a kid 20 minutes is a lifetime. They will be fine, just have your hubby get on the floor and invite them to come play. You may notice also that your kids may be a bit clingy and whiny and it is normal. Kids cannot tell us moms how they are feeling so it comes out in their actions, such as throwing fits, crying alot, being clingy. Just be patient and they will be fine. Next time he leaves you may want to record his voice on a tape and play it at night for them so they can hear him and that may calm them and the reunions may not be so awkward. I hope this helps, LOL...
