The last couple of times I have been so frustrated by the increasing prices of groceries. I have found a solution. How do you feel about the situation?

High prices and very poor quality of food we are required to purchase. Our food supply is being fed so many hormones so that they are being fed directly to our children and that is the main reason they are getting fat. I am going to buy from the source and buy 1/2 an organic raised, free range cattle and chicken an buy a freezer to hold it. And it will be cheaper to buy it than in the stores.

I can't go and shop at walmart! I always spend way to much money! I agree the prices our crazy! Now that I am on a budget of 300.00 a month on food. Sometimes I just want to cry!. I have found a store that the cost are ok,I do have to go to another store for meat. I try to buy family portions, alot of cookbooks that have cheap ingredeints. And to finish up all the left overs! It seems that I buy the same kind of meat, but have a alot of different meals that I can make (cheap) I make my list and have my husband add on or the kids who are old enough and on what they want. And before I go we have a shopping list night. We all look at what we have wrote out and figure together the needs and wants. And I stick to it. I also have a jar on the kitchen counter. Extra change the family can put in and I will by something that we have not had in awile. At first that took sometime for the family to understand what is for. Until I bought some things to make a home made cake then they understood! It takes time, but I am teaching the whole family the importance of a budget and not to take things for granted. Good luck!

I know what you mean!! What I usually do before heading out to the stores is make a list and stick to it! I usually do an inventory of what I need the night before and since I go shopping once a week, I keep a plan of what I will be cooking the entire week. I also go online and look at the weekly fliers. I also will download the coupons they have online and also some stores have the coupons where you can load them to your "store" card. I usually spend about $100 a week, and that's just by cutting coupons and browsing the different stores....I will even go as far as visiting multiple stores and literally plot my shopping trip!

The prices are stagering. I have now found that when I have a meal plan I buy less. I do grocery shopping once a week and stick to a list. I do not through out as much because I buy what I need. I will still by in bulk my staples and meat from costco. I keep a list of what I have so I do not end up with alot of extra meat that ends up freezer burned. Sandi Rishard has several cookbooks and a show called fixing dinner where you can get meal plans with the list of groceries as well. Save time save money.

We've saved a lot of money by shopping at Costco, plus, buying certain things in bulk (especially those you can freeze or are non-perishable) means that I do NOT have to go to the grocery store every single week! Of course, that doesn't really work with veggies and fruit, so I just buy whatever is on sale that week or whatever is in season at the farmer's market.

I'm not sure where your at but here in Canada its rediculas... Its cheaper to eat junk then healthy.... Recently Safeway has started reducing some of their prices because of WalMart and other stores undercutting them. But whats your solution??

I was in the store a little bit earlier and I agree the prices are getting out of control! I think that it is a bunch of crap that you have to pay so much to eat healthy. Coupons just aren't enough most of the time.. :( What is your solution Emma?

Its so frustrating. I try to use coupons, by things only on sale but it does seem like it increases. What solution did you find? If you dont mind sharing.
