Does anyone make their own baby food. If so, do you have any recipies you could share? I love making new and interesting combinations for my little man.

My daughter loved this ! half a dessert apple peeled cored and diced ,100mls (3 1/2 floz) water, 85g (3oz) lean pork loin chop, 1 medium parsnip peeled and cut into thin slices , 100g (3 1/2oz ) swede peeled and diced , cooled boiled water to thin .

put the water into a small saucepan and bring to the boil. Add the pork apple and vegetable, cover with a tight fitting lid and simmer for at least 15 minutes untill the meat is cooked through and vegatables are soft. puree with cooking water, take ut one portion to serve and add cooled boiled water to thin if necessary . makes 6-10 servings

I got a lot of recipes from the book Super Baby Food. The gal who wrote it is a little over the top, but the majority of the info was good. One combo that my daughter loved was carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, and eggs. I felt like it was a good nutritious combo and my daughter was a big fan. I made a HUGE batch and froze it so I wouldn't have to keep making it all the time.

I also really liked the website that Christa posted, www.wholesomebabyfood.com

What are some combos that you have already made for your little one? I'm pregnant with #2 and would love some new ideas too!

You can use just about any veggie. Just cook it and purree it. Then if you scoop little amounts into ice cube trays, you can pop one out for dinner and heat it up. The trick is to not add any salt or other ingredients. Keep it as plain as possible. Salt, butter etc. is not good for babies. They taught that trick at the hospital when I had my daughter 21 years ago. It's better than jar food any day.

I made baby food for both my kids. I think it tastes so much better, it's so cheap, and it's kinda fun too. A great website with lots of "recipes" on how to prep different foods is www.wholesomebabyfood.com
