We pretty much only eat brown and wild rice. Here is an awesome recipe that we love. You can adapt some of the ingredients to your liking.

Almond Wild & Brown Rice

* Approx. 5 1/2 cups chicken broth or stock, divided

* 1 cup golden raisins

* 4 tablespoons butter (or you can use less)

* 1 cup uncooked wild rice

* 1 cup uncooked brown rice

* 1 cup slivered almonds

* 2 tbsp dried parsley

* salt & pepper, to taste

Directions:

1. In a small saucepan, bring 1/2 cup broth to a boil. Remove from the heat; add raisins and set aside (do not drain). In a large saucepan, cook wild rice according to package directions, substituting broth for water.

2. Meanwhile, in another saucepan, make brown rice according to package instructions, substituting broth for water and add 2 tbsp. butter.

3. In a skillet, saute the almonds in 2 tbsp. butter until lightly browned. In a serving bowl, combine the wild rice, brown rice, raisin mixture, almonds, parsley, salt and pepper.

Hi! I'm Filipina and rice is staple food here. Most eat white rice though. But I am eating brown, unpolished steamed rice. It keeps me full and helps me eat at regular times (breakfast, lunch and dinner) since it is able to keep me for four hours. I'm trying to trim down my weight and it's a big help. I limit fat and sugar intake too!
