i hate seeing waste and unfortunatly i'm going to have a lot of it having a child around. So to avoid it as much as poss, i will make a roast or big dinner usually involving gravy, then i have some left over to put into pots to freeze, i just get out the night before ready for next day to warm up, also if someone leaves quite a bit on their plate i will scoop it up into a pot for freezer. Other things i do fresh and that are quick and simple for kids are pasta, in tescos a pack of pasta spirals last ages and are only 40p tesco make and pasta is pasta to me regardless of make lol, and takes about 10mins to boil and then drain and add a jar sauce of tomato pasta to it then dish up. Beans and cheese in always a good one. I find the sauces like bean sauce and gravy (not together lol) but they help mash the foods better. Sometimes i do mini lunch salads, chop lettuce, cucumber, tomato and ham and make it into a face. Cheese on toast, egg on toast, noodles packs of noodles are cheap too, cheese and pot pie i freeze, small acket potatoes microwave is usually quicker add beans or tuna. fruit covered in yoghurt to add creativty or fruit and icecream for treat, home made chips, and my personal favourite mushy veg (bubble and squeak) with the mash hiding all the veg mashed up kids can't really tell) goes lush with any meat or if no time for meat, cold meat like cornbeef goes well or ham or chicken nuggets in oven with it, anything goes with it. I never have any left over veg though to make it half the time coz when i make roasts etc i usually have the right amount of veg lol

Something cheap and easy is Goulash.Recipe:Brown 1 lb of ground beef and onion drain fat, cook macaroni and cheese (elbow shaped works for us) as stated on the box add canned tomatoes to the macaroni and cheese and hamburger with onion also.Mix together and enjoy!! My 5 picky eaters all love this,so cheap and easy too!
Another poor man's meal is: Kielbasa sausage and Cabbage boil.Take some cut up cabbage and cut up kielbasa and cut up potatoes.Boil them in a pan and there you have a poor man's dinner of course add salt and pepper to liking
