Hi---I posted a few edible playdough recipes I had---2 peanut butter based, one with no peanut butter. You may have to adjust ingredients slightly to get the best consistency you want to work with. Hope it helps.

Edible Playdough (non-peanut butter based)
SERVES 1 , 1 batch
Ingredients
1/3 cup margarine
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 lb powdered sugar (more or less)
food coloring (optional)
Directions
1. Mix margarine with corn syrup, salt and vanilla extract.
2. Add powdered sugar and knead until constancy of play dough.
3. Divide and add food coloring of choice to each section. Knead until color is well blended.
4. If you are making only one color, it may be easier to add the coloring before the powdered sugar.
5. You can use any flavor you choose in place of the vanilla.
6. Store in refrigerator when not in use.

My mother used to make something from 1 cup flour, 1/2 (or more) cup water, and a tablespoon of salt. Edible, but yucky tasting, so I really didn't eat it.
