My name is Elizabeth and have a two month old. My hubby and i have been married for a year and six days before we had our daughter Sofia. Since all eyes are on our daughter now I wanted to give my hubby a really nice dinner with dessert, just to show him i still think of him. (I dont want to loose that spark we've had for the past 7 years) The only thing is i havent found any good red velvet cake recipe's. Anyone have a good one they can share? Thanks!

The Better Homes & Gardens recipe sounds almost identical to the one I mentioned. The only tip I have is to mix the food coloring with the cocoa first (and make sure the cocoa is the natural processed kind) so it makes a kind of red/chocolate paste. The cocoa and food coloring will blend much more evenly in the batter that way. Yummy - kind of makes me want one! :)

I make a red velvet cake for my husband and son each year for their birthdays - it's their favorite. I've tried a lot and the best one by far, in my opinion, is from the Cook's Illustrated Test Kitchens. I think you can find it at cookscountry.com

I've been looking for a good red velvet cake myself. I haven't had one turn out yet :(
