Susan's crust recipe is very much like mine. When I make sauce I use 1 container of grape tomatos and roast them in the oven with a touch of olive oil, salt and pepper. I also use fresh thyme if I have it. When they are finished roasting I smash them a fork until saucey.
There is a trick to yummy homemade pizza and it's not the crust or sauce recipe.
Ok here it is the trick is oven Temperature. Turn your oven all the way up, most ovens go up to 500 degrees. Watch the pizza so it doesn't burn. It shouldn't take more than 6-8 minutes. I also onlt make thin crust pizzas, they turn out better in home ovens.
I hope this helps!!

The pizza crust recipe we love is:
1 cup warm water
2 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp yeast
1 ½ cup flour
1 ½ tsp salt
1 Tbsp veg. oil
1 egg, beaten
2 cups flour
Mix water, sugar and yeast together. Mix flour, salt, oil and egg then add to yeast mixture. Mix in flour and knead for 10 minutes. Let rest for one hour. Makes 2 round pans (medium)

Hi Joanna,
I do it the semi-homemade way too. I buy sauce in a jar and pre-made bread dough. Pillsbury also makes a pizza dough in a can. You just pop it open in roll it onto the cookie sheet. My favorite sauce is Cassico's tomato and basil.

The recipe I have for pizza dough (and that I have yet to try myself) is for a bread machine but this is my personal recipe for sauce:
1 15oz can of plain tomato sauce
half a sm can of tomato paste
half a 15oz can of chicken stock
I add dried herbs like thyme, basil, oregano, parsley, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Sometimes I saute garlic and onion in olive oil first and then add liquids and seasonings.

A small batch of any bread dough works well for pizza crusts, and I've always used spaghetti sauce from a jar as pizza sauce. it works well wonderfully!

I usually shop at Jewel or Meijer's--they have both items. I have seen the sauce at some of the smaller "mom and pop" stores, so I'm guessing you can find that anywhere.

Hi Joanna,
I am the queen of cheating--I like Rhodes frozen dough and Pastorelli for sauce.
I'm curious to see what other recommendations you get--We love to make our own pizzas!
