PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY, I am Not Trying To Offend YOU!!

So here goes. Do you have any cookbooks? If you do try recipes that have 5 or 6 ingredients total. Follow them to the letter. If you do not have any cookbooks and buying one or two is in your budget find one that is geared towards either cooking with Children or A Child's Cookbook. The Recipes are easy to make and if followed to the tea they will be easy and tasty. If buying a cookbook is not in your budget than google sites that have recipes. Most of the sites rate the recipes. Try the ones that are easy to start.

The very fact that you want to learn how to cook tells me that you love your family and want to be the best wife/mother you can be.

Above all HAVE FUN when you cook. You can do it!

I make grilled chicken and twice baked potatoes.. first make a marinade out of salt, pepper and Italian seasoning.. add about 14 cup olive oil.. whisk together. put chicken breasts in a large bowl and l put the marinade over the chicken. cover with plastic wrap for 20 minutes. grill on the outside grill OR YOU CAN GRILL THEM ON A GEORGE FOREMAN INDOOR GRILL.

I bake potatoes in oven at 350 for about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs.. cover the potatoes in some olive oil and then wrap in foil.

when they are done, take out of oven, open foil at the top and cut potato in half. with a spoon scoup out the baked potato AND PUT INTO a large bowl. this will leave you the potato skins.. do this for all potatoes you are making.. then to add to the potato mixture..
add 1 cup sour cream 2 tab butter, salt and pepper to taste. 1 8 oz block of cream cheese and 1/4 cup shredded parmesan/ reggiano cheese add a little milk and mix with hand mixer.. it should be thick. Scoup out the mixture and put back into the potato shells that you had left over.. top with some chopped green onions put back into oven and bake for 10 moinutes at 400 it is DELCIOUS!!

Here is a gumdrop cookie which has been in our family for generatations. It makes a ton, freezes well, and can be made with the kids when there is nothing else to do with them and they are driving you nuts! It can even be made into a reading, writing, math lesson. Have the kids cut the recipe in half and rewrite it. If you really want to extend the learning have them make the shopping list, keep a tally of the prices in the store for everything, and figure out how much they spent and how much each cookie cost. I make thematic lesson plans for local homeschoolers which revolve around cooking. I am retired as a teacher and do things like this for kicks. Anyway--here is the recipe--enjoy! : )

Gum Drop Bar Cookies--If need be remind the kids that the candy will be hot when baking and cooling.--Hot sugar will cause a serious burn!

Yield: 80-100 cookie bars depending upon how big they are cut

Equipment Needed:

• 2 11x16” bright aluminum half baking pans (dark pans will burn)

• Pizza cutter

• Parchment paper

• Large dishpan for mixing ingredients

• Kitchen shears

• Bowl of hot water—helpful

• Large bowl to cut gumdrops into

• Gallon sized zipper bag

• Rolling pin

Ingredients:

• 1 14-16 oz. box graham crackers

• 2 14 oz. cans sweetened condensed milk

• 4 pounds assorted fruit slice style gum drops

• 2 pounds orange fruit slice style gum drops

• 1 stick of margarine—not butter

• 4 10-14 ounce bags of cinnamon red hots

• 2 15 oz. bags of sweetened shredded coconut

• Shortening for greasing pans and parchment paper

Directions:

• Preheat oven to 245 degrees

• Generously grease pans with shortening—line pan with parchment “sling”—paper should make enough of an edge so cookies can be pulled from pan when done to cool o the paper on a rack.

• Crush graham crackers into fine crumbs

• Cut gumdrops into small pieces—about four pieces per piece of candy—drip blades of shears into hot water, as needed, to prevent sticking

• Combine all ingredients in dishpan and combine well with clean hands

• Transfer half of cookie mixture to each pan and press firmly into pans•

• Position two racks in center of oven. Bake for one hour with one pan on each rack. Rotate pans once halfway through baking.

• Let cool in pans for 15 minutes.

• Then, grasp edge of paper slings and slide on to racks to finish cooling.

• Cut cookies into bars with pizza wheel when fully cool.

Note: These cookies can be made months in advance and kept in the freezer in airtight containers or gallon .sized zip freezer bags.

I belong to a meal plan service called Shrinking On A Budget. She has a free newsletter series too and she gives recipes at the end of each newsletter. She has really really easy recipes and gives tips for picky eaters so you just modify the meal instead of making a seperate meal for them. Does that make sense? I'm not a great cook either but she gives really good instructions. The newsletter series is free so I would suggest signing up. Here is a super easy recipe that you really can't mess up :).

Serves:8 (3 ounce portions)

Ingredients

1 1/2 lb lean pre-cooked lean ham

1/2 cup apricot fruit spread (like Polaner All Fruit)

1/2 cup orange juice

Directions

Cut 1 1/2 pounds of ham into 8 (3 ounce) slices. Coat a large nonstick skillet (must be nonstick) with cooking spray; place over medium-high heat until hot. Add ham; cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until lightly browned. Add apricot spread and orange juice to skillet, stirring until spread melts.Reduce heat and simmer 5-6 minutes or until ham is glazed.

Easy Supper of Grits, Bacon, and Eggs,

I use instant Quaker Grits, Cook according to package directions.

Scrambled eggs, 2 per adult, one per child, or according to what your kids eat. Crack into a bowl, add salt and pepper to taste, whisk with a fork.

Fry Bacon in a pan, until crispy, Drain after each pan of bacon has been cooked. (You can save the drippings for frying in if you want to) Add scrambled eggs, cook until eggs are done to your liking... I tend to cook until lightly browned.

You can serve this meal in a bowl and mix together or separate on a plate. my Family prefers a bowl and mixed together with, butter, sharp cheddar and catsup added.

Polska Kielbasa Casserole

One box of pasta shells (or any you have on hand)

olive oil (abt 2 tablespoons)

One large onion diced

carrot "strings" or julleinned carrots about 2

one can mushrooms

one polska kielbasa quartered and cut into pieces

Cheese about 2-3 cups each mozzarella and Cheddar (reserving 1 cup each for topping)

Cook pasta according to package directions drain well

In a separate pan add olive oil diced onion, carrot strings, and saute until fork tender. Add the polska kielbasa sausage cook until heated thru.

prepare a roux using 2 tbsps butter and flour add 1.5-2 cups milk to a small sauce pan and bring to almost a boil... add cheeses one at a time and stir well. Add second cheese. Repeat until thickened.

Combine the sauteed veggies and sausage with the pasta and cheese and mix well. top with the remaining cheeses.

Bake in a 375* oven until cheese melts and slightly browns... Makes a 13x9 casserole Full of yummy goodness.

k So I come from a family of great cooks ... so first tip for you .. do not cook on high you with dry everything out and burn it. .. pasta if cooked on high will get a bad texture to it and will stick together. when cooking in the oven try to stay at 350 or the back of the package of what ever your cooking should tell you the tempature.

turkey.

add just enough water to coat the bottom the juice of the turkey will bring it higher.. (rub the turkey in butter before cooking pre heat oven to 400 leave turkey in for 30 mins lower the tempture to 350 1 hour .. then down to 320 and cook the rest on that tempture. the high tempture was to get the golden brown look and the low temputer is to cook the inside. turkey should be done in 5 to 6 hours depending how big........

biggest error people make when cooking turkey 1. cook the whole thing on a high tempture 2. they boil the turkey by adding to much water. both of these dry the turkey out.

stew

brown your meat -meduim low add spices, cut up the vegs you want to add.. (peas get added at the end- do not add them at this point or you will have musky peas) add water(not alot you dont want watery stew) just to lightly cover the veggies ( add beef cube/chicken cube(depends what meat your cooking) place a lid let simmer till vegs can be stuck with a fork and soft .. at that point you add peas and let simmer till it becomes thicker. remember it gets thicker as well once its away from heat. (dont add corn startch the thickening comes from the gelatin in the meats)

super easy spaghetti

brown ground beef in a pot. add spices (what ever you like, I like tons of garlic so i add garlic salt garlic powder, real garlic, basil, onion flakes, veg seasoning, crushed chilli peppers, salt pepper. (but dont add tons your going to add to your sauce too. ... add your base. meaning sauce from the store. i use hunts garlic and herbs (if you use this dont add alot of garlic to your meat and sauce you dont want to over power it. (powdered garlic has a stronger garilc taste just letting you know) heat up the sauce -medium heat. .. taste it ... does it need anything? is it lacking flavour? is it to garilcy? add brown sugar!!! just a little bit this will add a little sweetness and enhance all the flavors. ... let simmer for 1 hour. stir every 10 mins. (simmer on low) after that get your water boiling for your spaghetti cook spaghetti on medium low. and take it out when you throw it on a wall and it sticks ...or when its just a little chewy. spray with cold water to stop the cooking process. then hot water to heat it back up ... add to plate and add sauce :) for better spagitti take all and place in a container and place in friedge for 2 days then reheat it and enjoy.. will taste 10 times better then the first time.

Do you have a crockpot?

Easiest pulled pork ever!

Get pork but roast (its really cheap and costs around $8 - 10)

two bottles of RBC root beer

your fav BBQ sauce, we use sweet baby rays

Put the pork and a bottle and a half of the rootbeer into the crockpot, put on low for 8 hours.

Then you drain the meat, put it back into the crock pot and shred it with a fork

then put your fav BBQ on it and serve on hamburger buns. People will think this is the best meal ever :-) I normally serve with a can of green beans or corn on the cob or just steak fries (Stick them in the oven) :-)

I once knew a lady who wouldn't cook anything unless it was 5 ingredients or less. Luckily food.com has such recipes and I love most everything I've made so far! Here's the link::

http://www.food.com/recipes/5-ingredient...

If you can start a day early that will be great! I like to put two pot roasts in my 7-qt slow cooker, put them in freezer bags with enough juice and freeze them. When the family wants a roast, it's already cooked, just thaw, warm up and make the sides. Simple and easy! We do this for most of our meats. Pork, chicken and beef. Cuts down on cooking time considerably.

www.supercook.com is a website that you can put in ingredients you have for example say you want to use: chicken, rice, and broccoli, on the left hand side, they have a little search type bar, and you would enter all ingredients. Then it will bring up recipes using all those ingredients, as well as list additional ingredients you would need. It would also give you how to make the recipe and everything. So if you are looking in your fridge and freezer thinking, what can i make out of this? That website is a good one, or a good one for something different too!
