Jessica, I took both my daughters to have their ears pierced at three months and they were fine and we had no problems with them at all.I would say either do it now or wait till she is about seven years old and can look after them herself. I thuink 3 months is a very good age to take her to have it done.

sure it's ok , i did it with my now 19 year old girl but the thing is she will start tugging on them and can hurt or cause an infection if she pulls on them too much. I would personally wait until she's 2. Good Luck!! :o)

My step daughter's mom got her's pierced @ 4 or 5 and she got such terrible infections they had to take her to the Dr's to have them removed,it was awful and she screamed bloody murder. My granddaughter is 2 1/2 and her's are not done and I'm glad.let her be a baby and little girl. I was 12 when I was allowed to get mine done.

Hi Jessica, I have got both my daughter's ears pierced and got them done at just over 2 months. I thought it was better for them then they couldnt touch them while they healed.
I think its more the noise of the piecing gun that scares them more than any pain the little 1 may get.
I hope I've ben some help...Good Luck!!

I have six daughters and I believe that it is fine to piercew their ears. It has been done in many cultures for many years. I think it is funny that many people who circumcise their boys hesitate to pierce their girls ears.

I don't understand why any mother would want to put holes in her child's ears as a fashion statement. Especially when there is nothing they can do about it.
A piercing should be a personal choice, not something forced on a little baby who doesn't understand

There's the risk of infection and (as some mums have mentioned) the skin growing over the back of the earring. As babies grow they are notorious for grabing and pulling anything they can get their hands on - what stops it being the earrings? Can you guarantee you can watch your baby every second to make sure she doesn't rip them out? What happens when your baby becomes an active toddler? Is there not a risk of them being caught or pulled out through boistrous play?

You might think it's cute to pierce your baby's ears but I think it's unneccessary and cruel. You're causing your daughter pain that she doesn't need to be in.

Bravo!  I think babies with earrings look totally disgusting - why try to make your baby look older than she is?  Enjoy her as a baby and treasure these special years, she has the rest of her life to look grown-up.

Hi there I have 3 daughters and i got there ears done for there first birthday. I think the earlier the better because they don't tug or play with them. My 2 youngest play with there ears when they ae tired and i am still yet to have a problem.  My youngest did get an infection but i changed the studs to sleepers(tiny hoops) and her came right. If you want to get them done it is your choice and there will always be someone who doenst agree.

Good luck getting them done.

They dont cry for long.

Our Peds doc told us she had to be 6 months old but done before a year old then she would not have issues with her ears. My daughter had them done at 9 months and to this day she has never had a infection and when she was little she left them alone like the doc said.

Also....I had mine done as a baby and as a teenager I got 2 more ear piercings done and there was not problem with my ears or piercings being uneven as a result of my mom piercing my ears as a baby. And when will anyone really notice anyway since all of our ears are not even on our head to begin with! So I think it is just a personal preference.

We had to wait until 4mths old because we preferred to have her pediatrician do it. They did it when both of my girls turned 4mths and had their 4mth old shots. Hope this helps.

I have a few friends who had their ears pierced as babies. When they were old enough to decide for themselves, they took them out and hated the fact that they didn't get a say in it!

I also have some friends who got their little girls ears done before they turned one, and their girls love it!

...But you don't know what your precious girl is going to want... Why not wait and let her decide!

My parents didn't let me get mine done until I was old enough to look after them properly myself. I had to be 16!!! But, I think that was good for me. I had something to look forward to. I got to decide myself IF I even wanted them done, and I had my own responsebility of caring for them. And I read some people were concerned about the pain if you wait too long, well... it didn't hurt me at 16!

There is nothing wrong with getting your bubs ears pierced right now providing her ear lobes are big enough. Most pierces will recommend this anyway, well they should and if they don't they shouldn't be piercing (My sis is body piercer). The younger the better as the pain is not as extreme as it would be if you were to wait until there about 2 or 3 years old. Providing the after care is addressed correctly and properly you shouldn't have a prob with infection and most piercers use top quality jewelrey. At the end of the day, you know your bub better than anyone, and you will make the right decision that best suits you and bubs. Good luck.

Hi Jessica, I would say NOT to pierce them right now.  My Mom pierced my ears when I was 2-years-old and as I grew, so did my ears.  The original holes were much higher than they should have been, so I ended up getting my ears pierced a second time when I was about 11.  I'm all for pierced ears, but I plan to wait until my daughter is older so she doesn't end up with the holes too high.  Whatever you decide will be the right decision, because you're the Mommy!  Good luck!

I had a similar problem.  My mom had mine done when I was 3 months and when I went to get a second hole as a teenager, I found out that the first were uneven because of the way my ears grew!  It wasn't a huge issue, it's not really noticeable, but the lady doing it said that it's fairly common when the holes are done as babies.  My sister always had really sensitive ears, she could only wear gold or she got a bad infection, I don't know if that's to do with when she got them pierced or not though.

I would have gotten my daughter's but her daddy didn't love the idea, so we decided to compromise wait until she's old enough to make the decision herself (and maybe by then her ears will be grown enough that they won't end up uneven or misplaced).

I got my daughters done when she was one week old... it was great... she cried for maybe 15 sec... it was the shock of the "pop" sound .... I cleaned them alot and they were fine... i think having them so young... she never plays with them because they have always been a part of her in her mind I think..... I thought it would be better than when shes a toddler because then it would be harder to take care of and they might mess with it more.  Most people think its cute... some old timers think i am cruel... but like my grandma... doesnt understand because she doesnt even have her ears peirced..... GO FOR IT

I did both my girls at ten months however with that said I would have done it earlier I just procrastinated it...I have heard the younger the better because they do not play with them which can cause infection, I know quite a few people who did their daughters ears at two and three months...she should do fine...it's usually the mommy who feels bad and has the hard time :( GOOD LUCK! :)

this is totally my personal opinion, but I just CANNOT think why'd you'd want to hurt your baby like that - why not wait until she decides she wants pierced ears, surely it's her decision and not yours ...

I would definately do it before the 6 month mark if you want to it this early, I did my daughters at about 6 months and she used to somehow get tem out all the time. Yes even the piercing studs with the hard to take off backs. Once my husband actually found the earring in her gums she took it out somehow and put it in her mouth and all you coud see was the stud part.

Hi my name is And! I think that it is totally alright to pierce your daughters ears now. Not only will she not remember, but she will probably not be yanking on her ears that much at this age. I have a son, but when I have a daughter I'm going to pierce her ears as early as possible. It's too cute!

I think it is your choice. Personally I waited until my girls were 4 and 3 and they asked to have them done. When I was working as a nurse we say many babies that came in that pulled out the earring and swallowed it or the skin grew over the earring back. So If you do have them done when they are infants just be carefull and remember to clean them alot. :)

We had my daughters ears pierced at 2 months.  You can get them pierced whenever you want!!!  Some place want them to have their first shots but it depends where you go.  My daughter is now 7 months and she has no problems with her earrings.  She notices and plays with mine but never her own.  Also if you feel bad she cried just like she cried when she got her shots and then it was over!!!  I felt a little bad but I just held her and they were so good and did both ears together so it is fast!!  I think it is easier now then when they are older...they remember the pain when they get older!!!!

Hope that helps! :o)

Sure! I did my daughters ears when she was 2 months old. I have heard that you want to do it before they are 6 months and know better and can grab their ears...
She cried during it (I brought her to a peircing/tatto place and had it done "the right way" with a needle, I have heard that there are high rates of Hepatitis with the guns) but never flinched after it. I think she really just did not like being held still. I was breast feeding at the time, and grabbed her ears a few times accidentally when holding her head and she never made a sound... I am now thinking of doing my 3rd daughter (who is 3 weeks old today) earlier. I asked the Dr., and she said no problem, anyime was fine.

Hi Jessica, I think it is fine to get them pierce early like you want to. The reaction will be a few tears but she would be fine. Later on they cried and scream, overreacting to a temporary pinch but of course they are just little and have not come to realize that it is just temporary. Congradulations on your new edition!
