Mints! They are they only thing I could stomach for the first several months of both my pregnancies.

this is what I lived on when I was feeling ickkkkkky
Matzoh brie
•4 matzohs
•4 eggs
•1/2 cup milk
•Salt to taste
•White pepper to taste
•3 Tablespoons butter
Preparation:
Break the matzohs4 into small pieces and soak them in the water in a large bowl until soft but not soggy. Drain well.

In a separate large bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, salt, and pepper. Add the matzohs. Blend together.

Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add the egg mixture. Cook over medium heat. As the eggs begin to thicken and brown, stir from the bottom with a wide spatula or pancake turner, keeping the matzoh in large scrambled pieces. If you prefer, cook the egg-matzoh mixture as a large omelet5, browning on both sides. Turn out onto warm serving dish.

I had very severe pregnancy sickness so I understand. Soda crackers ARE the devil! Protien snacks are most helpful. Usually the nausea is at its worst when blood sugar is at a low and protien will stick with you the longest. I nibbled on beef jerky and grilled chicken breast for snacks, thanksgiving type turkey is also good and turkey has anti nausea properties. Citrus fruits are also helpful (I don't know why) but I had hundreds of oranges in my pregnancies and kept them all down. I would also reccommend hard candy like preggie pops and peppermint. With my most recent pregnancy I had girl scout thin mints, I would nibble on those and I always had a couple just sitting on my nightstand to smell because just the smell of the light mint made my tummy settle. Also bacon, if it would fry while I was in the house it made me feel better, if I ate it it was even better.
The most important thing is just that you stay well hydrated so sports drinks are really good for that because being dehydrated will make everything worse and as far as foods, whatever sounds/smells/tastes good, eat it! It's better to eat a little protien as soon as you start to feel icky because that is the best for combating the nausea. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask for IV fluids if you feel dehydrated. Also, if it gets really bad I've had good luck with prescriptions like Phenergan and Zofran. Good luck to you!

first off, congratulations! i have been pregnant three times and like some of the other moms who have posted, i had hyperemesis gravidarum (severe and persistent nausea and vomiting resulting in weight loss, dehydration, malnutrition, etc.) and i ended up in the hospital for dehydration and meds during my first two pregnancies. i was nauseated and vomiting all nine months with my second pregnancy. it is miserable, isn't it??
it sounds like with your weight loss and 7 mos. of morning sickness you may have had hyperemesis gravidarum and maybe you weren't diagnosed. in any case, you should check out the website www.helpher.org which has lots and lots of information regarding hyperemesis and how to deal with it--you will find lots of tips on how to deal with the morning sickness, even if you don't technically have hg. if the traditional recommendations on how to deal with morning sickness aren't working for you (eat first thing in the morning, take your prenatal vitamins at night, eat small, bland meals, stay hydrated), you should ask your doctor/midwife if they think you might have hyperemesis gravidarum . they can prescribe you meds, give you IV fluids (a bag or two of fluids when the nausea and vomiting get bad can work wonders!). none of the traditional morning sickness recommendations worked for me, so i had take a more aggressive approach. the things that worked for me: 1. zofran (generic name: ondansetron. it is an anti-nausea/anti-vomiting drug that they give cancer patients which is supposedly safe) get the dissolving tablets you put under your tongue so you don't throw up the pills. 2. staying hydrated (very cold, icy, sour, carbonated [but sugar free] beverages), and if you can't keep those down, IV fluids 3. small, frequent high-protein, bland snacks (protein bars, smoothies with yogurt, peanut butter on apples, milkshakes, etc.) 4. vitamin B6, 50 mg. taken 3 times a day 5. benedryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride, an antihisthamine) 25 mg. every four hours. will make you drowzy. 6. taking flintstones with iron chewable vitamins instead of prenatal vitamins, which really upset my stomach
things i wish i had tried:
1. i would look into taking an herbal supplement called milk thistle, which is completely safe--it supports the liver, and there is some research to indicate that severe morning sickness stems from the stress all the pregnancy hormones put on the liver. you can get it at your local health food store in pill or tincture form. there is info on the helpher site about milk thistle. 2. coconut water--nature's gatorade--which is great at keeping you hydrated and has lots of electrolytes.
the main thing is to stay hydrated and nourished with food, which is so hard when you are severely nauseated and vomiting. when all the traditional advice on how to deal with run-of-the-mill morning sickness fails to work, please don't hesitate to talk to your doctor/midwife about hyperemesis gravidarum and possibly taking a more aggressive approach to controlling the nausea and vomiting. you sould not suffer unnecessarily--it is not good for you or your baby. there are options out there for you to get relief. good luck, mama!!! blessings to you and your family!

EAT! constantly! It doesn't make sense, but it worked for me like a charm both times. I only got sick when I went more than about 2 hours without food. Peppermints could hold me for another 30 minutes if I didn't have food handy. With my first one cold things - especially apples - helped the most. The second it hasn't mattered what the food is. Don't wait until you feel bad to eat, it's too late then.

Sipping water with lemon was a huge help for me. I couldn't have gotten through the first trimester without it.

avoid mint toothpaste - that's a really common trigger for sickness - I ended up using kids fruit flavoured toothpaste - the only thing that didn't make me sick!! Also eat little and often of whatever you fancy x

I would suck on some sour hard candy and it really worked! My aunt had told me that she ate lemon drops for morning sickness which gave me the idea. It is the only thing that worked for me.

The only foods that settled on my tummy was french onion soup without the cheese on top, french toast with light syrup, wanton soup without the wantons, and BMT on flat bread. Good Luck and I hope all goes well!

you could talk to your dr, I ended up on diclectin, I'm not sure how exactly its spelled. Its made just for morning sickness and worked wonders. Another thing that helped alot were preggy pops, they are little hard candies that are slightly sour but really yummy that help settle your stomach. I don't know about there but here you can get them at most maternity stores and babies r us

I always kept some hard lollies like butterscotch in my handbag. If I was in the car or out and about and started to feel sick, I would suck on one of those and they really helped.

what worked for me was saltine crackers and ginger tea with a touch of honey. I stayed sick the entire pregnancy with 1 and 3. This is the only thing that helped. If I didin't have the ginger root to make the tea with I sipped on ginger ale.

I was sick for 8 months of my pregnancy until my doctor gave me medication for it. I found I should focus on fruits and veggies. Carrots, peas, corn, apples, pears, bananas, I was pregnant through the summer so I also ate melons. Ginger ale that is made with real ginger worked wonders, I filled a glass with ice then added the ginger ale. It was sometimes the difference between being able to eat anything and eating nothing. I found that staying away from meat and breads and grains really helped as well. I was pretty much vegetarian for my pregnancy. When I did eat meat it was fish. I drank skim milk constantly (I went though about a gallon a week).

I only took the medications if nothing else worked. I'm over weight so my OB wasn't that concerned about my weight loss since all of my daughter's measurements were coming out normal.

A nurse practitioner told me to make sure I eat often and esp. at the very first signs of morning sickness to ward off the worst of the symptoms. I did this and hardly had any trouble. I ate a lot of hummus on veggies. Make sure you eat fat with protein because that will stick with you longer than carbs. I also kept a snack at bedside and ate it in the middle of the night. By not letting my blood sugar dip too much at night, I wasn't as bad in the morning. Ginger candies helped me too as did peppermint tea and chamomile tea.

My advice is eat small snacks but often....as soon as I let myself get too hungry or too tired.....I was sick. I ended up on diclectin as I wasn't gaining a lot of weight either. I was hyperemesis gravidarum, which clinically means excessive vomiting during pregnancy...but it is actually a condition. I was in the hospital dehydrated at 12 wks and again at 27 wks. The only thing that worked was Zolfron, but I had to get it prescribed as a sublingual (dissolve under the tongue) because I couldn't even get the tablet down without throwing it up. If your practitioners is concerned about nutrition or weight lose, he/she might prescribe it, but even if they don't ask about it. It works and it is safe, and in my case it was the only way to keep me out of the hospital.

I only tried what sounded good...everything else was an absolute NO WAY. Bananas seemed to help my stomach a lot of the time. I really think it's just a matter of trial and error; try a little bit of anything that sounds great to you, and see how it goes. If all else fails, get that pill everyone above is talking about. Where was that when I was prego?! : )
Good luck mama

avoid ALL sugars and anything that would turn into sugar (wheat flour, corn, simple carbs) it really helped make me feel normal for 4 hours (exactly) once I felt hungry (every 4 hours) I could NOT wait one second without food or I'd feel sick. hope it helps!

Ginger...anything with ginger in. Trying sucking on life savers or chew gum. And sip water. Also, try and see what foods your belly can tolerate and what upsets it. Along with certain smells. And if it gets to bad, talk to your doctor. They can get you on Phenergan or Zofran (I had to be on Reglan cause I am allergic to both of those). With my first I didn't gain any weight for the first 5months, I lost 15lbs from being so sick. I'm now 19weeks, 5days with my second and I just started gaining weight again from being so sick. Good luck!

I was sick for all eight months and actually lost 25 lbs. I use ginger, mango juice, soda crackers are all said to do wonders. Water. I also took medication for my morning sickness. I tried everything food wise until I found things my stomach would tolerate. Water, chocolate and hamburger were what I came up with for my last pregnancy.

There are these wonderful little preggie pop drops. They kinda look like a couch drop but they are meant to help with morning sickness. They also have popsicles too. They were my freaking life saver during my first trimester. You can get at Motherhood Maternity or Babies R Us. They probably sell them other places but those are what I know of. Good luck!

From what I can remember I liked Triscuits, ginger cookies, and pickles (without the icecream). High carbs seem to be easier as well. I think I ate only chips for a week with my boy.
