My family loves cheese crisps. All you need is flour tortillas( i usually use the larger size.) finely shredded cheese of your choice, chicken or steak strips. Put tortilla in a skillet. Add cheese and meat. Top with other tortilla. Flip once. Its done when cheese is melted. My son is a very picky eater and he loves it. Hope this helps

This is one of the tastiest, and easiest recipies I have ever seen or tried.
You can add garlic, seeds, nuts, ect....

Try It Out!!!!

1-1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cups milk

Mix dry ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Stir with a wisk. Add milk and your optional ingredient. Mix just till combined. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place 3 tablespoons of butter, marg into your baking pan. (pyrex works best) Melt in preheating oven. Knead dough onto a flour serface 5-10 times. Roll out dough into a rectangle, cut into breadsticks. Place sticks into the melted butter and coat them evenly. Bake for 14-18 minutes or until browned nicely.
Enjoy.

beat egg in a bowl and pour out parmesan on a plate.
Dip the chicken breast in egg then roll them in the cheese. Make sure they are covered completely then salt them. Bake @ 350 for 30 min... Best chicken and super healthy

Soups are good, and a pot seems to feed us for 2-3 days. I like vegetable soup with sausage, cabbage soup is cheap and you can add some kind of meat to it, bean and ham soup the kids love.

Casseroles are pretty cheap... some kind of pasta, maybe a can of cream soup, a canned vegetable or frozen, and a little meat if you like.

Sometimes eat just soup and sandwich for lunches.

Made a breakfast casserole this week, went over well. Sausage, Eggs, Diced Potatoes, finely diced onion... with or without cheese.

Frozen and canned veggies are cheaper, though I stick to frozen.
Frozen Chicken Breast is cheaper than fresh
I go to the cheaper or discount type stores for some things
Also bulk stores for others but be careful what you buy it adds up quickly
I get coupons online and sometimes in the mail
I check my local stores for really good deals and stock up when I can (make sure it's things you use on a regular basis though) don't want to stock up on something you might only eat a few times a year

homemade pizza/flatbread...same thing
beef stew...use only 1 pound of beef and mostly vegies with a nice piece of bread
chicken...with rice or stuffed with rice or baked with a potato or casserole with broccoli
stir-fry...with or with out meat over rice, basically it's meat, vegies, sauce over rice
rice and beans....with a side salad
tacos...with or without meat, lettuce, tomato, peppers, etc

rice, potatoes, and pasta are the cheapest
home-made is always cheaper then pre-packaged
salads and casseroles are one plate meals and meets nutritution standards
fish is a great alternative too
try a meal trade with other families...take turns cooking for them and they for you...it will lessen you having to buy everything for yourself in one week...

hope this helps? the web is full of recipe sites but I am not so sure about the aussie thing? sucks to be broke sometimes...one time my husband and I had to have a baked potato with some creamed corn poured the top, everyday for a week...when we were low on money...now, he hates creamed corn...oh, well...live and learn:)

Hi Katherine
My family love fried rice and its so quick and easy.
2 eggs
1 onion
4-5 cups of cooked long grain rice
1 cup corn
1 cup peas ( I usually buy the frozen pea/corn combo)
200gms diced bacon
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon fish sauce
- beat eggs together and then make an omelette. Set aside and let cool. Once cooled, cut into small pieces
- saute the onion & bacon. Once brown, add the frozen corn & peas. Cook for 2 mins
- add rice and mix together. Add soy & fish sauce and mix well.
- before serving add the egg.
My 17 month absolutely loves it.
I normally buy a big packet of frozen dim sims and steam a few for hubby and myself.
Its a cheap meal and makes tons of rice.
Good luck :)

Tacos are always fun, easy and cheap. You could also try Taco Pasta. You do the meat however you like your taco meat then just mix it with some Penne Pasta. Pile it in a bowl then serve with your favorite Taco toppings. I saw Rachel Ray do this, but I have done it for years.

Ham, mushroom and cheese pasta.
Hi, buy some value ham, handful mushrooms, pasta, packet of cheese sauce powder, milk and cheese.

Make the packet cheese sauce up as directed but add some grated cheese to add to the cheese flavor and help thicken it up. Slice the mushrooms and ham into chunks and fry. Once you have cooked and drained enough pasta to feed your family add the ham and mushroom to the cheese sauce and pour over the top of your pasta. Its very tasty, quick and cheap, my family love it.
