Please help. We have a large family of 2 grown men, 3 teenage boys, mom and dad, and a 2 yr old. We need to find a few recipes that are quick and easy and that arent fast food! lol. If anyone has any ideas, please help.

Hi Ashley! I have a family of 8 and am always looking for ways to get out of the kitchen fast. I have a great breakfast cassarole recipe if you are interested. it goes as follows:



1/2 lb browned crumbled sausage

1/2 lb browned bacon-cut in pieces

8 slices of bread (i toast it in the oven for a few minutes to harden)

8-10 eggs

jalepenos, tomatoes and onion-chopped tiny pieces

1 cup of favorite shredded cheese



-cube bread, put in the bottom of a 13 x 9 pan sprayed with pam

-add sausage and bacon pieces

-add vegetables

-pour eggs over the top

-then sprinkle cheese

refrigerate over night-bake at 350 the next morning for 45 minutes.



I also have several quick an deasy deserts if you are interested.

*Chicken Breast - cut in squares, lightly seasoned with salt and black pepper, brown slightly
*Cream of Mushroom Soup- add 1 can of soup add half the amount of water as recommended, simmer for about 15 minutes
*Mashed Potatoes
*Can of green beans or vegetable of preference
*Croissants
30 minutes total and all you have to do is double up the ingredients as needed

Easy Stroganoff



Brown 2lb.ground beef season with salt/pepper- drain

put back in skillet & add:

1 pkg Lipton Onion Soup

1 8 oz container sour cream

2 cans cream mushroom soup



simmer 10 min. stirring occasionally

serve over cooked egg noodles



we like green peas on the side with this dish.

I love kraftfoods.com. Most recipes are simple and quick, but will probably need to be at least doubled for your family. We also like to do egg burritos a lot at our house.



Egg Buritos: Scrambled eggs (whip up as many as needed for family size) mixed with vegetables of your choice (bell peppers, hot peppers, mushrooms, potatoes, green chile, etc.) while scrambling. Served on warmed flour tortillas with salsa and cheese toppings. Good luck!

Tator tot hotdish. My family loves it.



1 lb ground beef -- browned

mix beef with cheese soup (2 cans) (if you can find nacho cheese soup 1 can, 1 can cheese soup; if you can find nacho then add a dash of tabasco-- doesn't make it spicey and a good flavor)

french cut green beans(1 can)

and a lot of tator tots (mix some in with the meat and soup and then put some on top

put it all together in a microwave dish.

cook in microwave for 25 mins

I use a 2 quart dish.

Since you have a little bigger family you might want to double it.



Very easy. Hope you enjoy!!

procedure:
combine all the ingredients, cook in a medium fire for 15 mins or until the chicken and the potato is ready...........

Hi, hope these help:



1. smoked sausage

potatoes

green beans



about 1/2 pound green beans or 3 cans, a package smoked sausage, and 5-10 potatoes. slice sausage. dice potatoes. boil potatoes until soft, add cooked beans and sausage. cook on med heat for 20 min. add salt/pepper. serve with butter bread.



2. try the box meals...pasta salads. add tuna and crackers. pasta only take 25 min and its done.



3. fried chicken. ...make extra and have friend chicken on salads the next day. very quick and everyone can enjoy salads, there is so much variety



4. rice...however many cups (2 per person for adults, 1 for children)

3 chicken breasts, slice into strips. grill. (takes about 5-10 min) teryaki sauce, etc.

bag of frozen broccoli. boil in small amount of water (takes 10 min)

this meal can be ready in 10-20 min if grill is already hot. and rice is very filling. also,

very healthy.



5. breakfast idea:

dozen eggs ($2), cooked on stove til all done

package english muffins ($2-3), warmed in toaster

slice of lunch meat on each sandwich

slice of cheese on each sandwich

Last one. My easy chicken and dumplings. this can easily fit any family size. This is the recipe I use for my family of 4.



1 rotisserie chicken from deli

2 stalks celery sliced

2 carrots sliced

2 cans butermilk buiscuts

2 pks chicken gravy



Strip chicken from bone and set aside. Boil bones in about 2 qts water for about an hour to make homemade chicken broth. You can add a bullion cube or 2 for extra flavor if you like. Strain broth into another pot and add chicken and veggies. Bring back to a boil and cook till veggies tender. Add gravy and mix well. Cut biscuts in quarters and carefully drop into pot. Cover pot and remove from heat for 5 min and serve.



I have use garlic herb and applewood smoked chicken in this it gives it a different spin on a classic food.

I acually have a couple more quick recipes heres one for my potatoe soup. My husband hates soup but he always requests this. and its easy to adjust to fit your family size.



2 md potatoes per person

3 stalks celery chopped

2 to 3 pks loaded instant potatoes (i use idaho brand)

meat of choice. I use 2 boxes precooked bacon and have an extra on the side for my meat and potatoes husband.This is also great with left over pot roast or steak.



This is great with the potatoes peeled or skins on. If leaving skins on be sure to clean first. chop potatoes and celery and boil together till potatoes are tender. Drain the cooked potatoes and celery and return to hot pan. Fill pan with milk. For my family of 4 i use a whole gallon.Cut bacon into about 1 in pieces and add to soup.Simmer on med low for 30 min, stirring often. Add instant potatoes and mix well. Remove from heat and let sit for 5 min. Serve with biscuts or crackers.



The instant potatoes are for thickness. Add more or less to your likeing. I have tried it with all the different flavors of instant potatoes that idaho puts out and you can't really go wrong with any of them.

My family goulash.It's quick, easy and taste great! Heres the recipe



2 Lb ground chuck

1 md. block velveeta cheese

1 large can crushed tomatoes

1 md can tomato sauce

1 med. sweet onion (chopped)

1 box of your favorite noodle i use shell or rotini



I use onion powder,garlic powder, and a spice called everglades though you can use salt and pepper. I dont have mesurements of these because i just add to taste.



First start your water for pasta,and cook acording to package. brown beef with chopped onions, once brown drain grease. To browned beef/onion mix add crushed tomatoes and sauce. Cube up velveeta and add to sauce. simmer stirring often till cheese is melted and all is combined well. Once pasta is done mix into sauce and enjoy. we serve biscuts or dinner rolls with this.



We have tried it with ground turkey and deer meat its great with them too

Turkey Tacos - my families favorite, super easy!



brown Ground Turkey (cheaper and better for you than hamburger)

add Pace chucky salsa let simmer for couple of mins.

top tacos with whatever you want!



additional idea:

I have even thrown black beans or kidney beans in with the meat and my kids loved it. They would never eat a bean before!

Take 3 or 4 (or whatever) chicken breasts... Beat one egg... put 1 large can of French's French Fried Onions into a large ziplock bag. Coat the chicken in the egg, and put it in the bag. Shake it up and put it into a prepared (sprayed with Pam) baking dish. After all chicken is coated, but the remainder of the onions on top of the chicken and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes, or until the temp of the chicken is 180 degrees... YUMMY!!!!!



For a great variation, French's also makes cheddar cheese flavored onions.... reallllllly good!

Chicken and rice casserole- I take help from the store to make this really easy on week nights.

These are amounts I use, so I have leftovers.

1 rotisserie chicken

3 bags ready rice (I use brown rice but use what you like)

1 bag steamable green beans

one can diced water chestnuts drained

1/4 c sliced almonds

2 cans low fat cream soup (mushroom, celery whatever you want)

1/2 c mayo

1 cup shredded cheese

Remove skin and dice the chicken. Cook rice and green beans in microwave per package directions. Mix everything else together and put in a baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. Bake at 350 until hot and bubbly.

This is a recipe that my teenage son loves and it is a family favorite. I got it from Busy People's Down-Home Cooking Without the Down-Home Fat Cookbook. I get lots of free recipes on the Cooking For Busy People website. I hope this helps!





One Pot Spaghetti

This is a great “whip-it-up-fast” dinner.



2 (27 1/2-ounce) jars light pasta sauce

1 pound ground turkey breast

2 cups water

2 tablespoons grape jelly

1 (1-pound) package thin spaghetti, broken into 3-inch pieces



• Spray a nonstick Dutch oven or soup pot with nonfat cooking spray.

• Combine the pasta sauce, ground turkey, water, and jelly in the prepared Dutch oven over high heat; mix well.

• Bring to a boil and put the spaghetti into the sauce, stirring to coat well.

• Reduce the heat to medium, cover, and boil for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

• Turn off the heat and let stand, covered, for 7 minutes.



Note: For a variation you can substitute ground beef (eye of round) or Ground Meatless instead of the turkey.



Yield: 8 (1-cup) servings

Saute pieces of chicken breast or tenderloins cut into pieces approx. 1" until cooked through...Add cream of mushroom soup & milk (1 part milk to 2 parts condenced soup) and frozen peas until simmering - add salt & peppers and serve over instant white rice. Easy & YUMMY!

(if you have more time you can also throw in some sauteed fresh mushrooms)

My best friend showed me a simple and very quick n easy meal that is healthy - my step kids are normally fast food fans but anytime i say to you want pasta, cheese n salad they all raise their hands!!



Simple -

1. Pot of pasta on the stove - any type - we like the spirals.

2. Chop up tomato & lettuce (Cherry tomatos are good for this).

3. Put Salt & Pepper all over the lettuce & tomato & stir.

4. Grate some cheese on top of the salad (as i call it)

5. Strain the pasta and add it reasonable hot to the top of the cheese.

6. Grate some more cheese on top.

7. Add a little more salt & pepper to the top.



Obvisouly you don't want too much cheese (or salt) or it reduces the health factor.

And just recently I made up one for lunch to take to work and I had some leftover chicken and chucked that in and it was fab.....



And my friend who taught me that receipe was over the other weekend and she has altered herself - instead of putting the cheese on the top of the salad and then more cheese on top of the pasta - she now uses half the cheese and actually stirs it into the pot of pasta (once drained of all the water of course!).

sweet and sour chicken

cut up enough chicken for your family...I normally make extra for leftovers. cook chicken and remove from pan, keep the pan warm though to add equal parts kraft regular BBQ sauce and apricot jam(I use 1 cup of each) also a good couple teaspoons of soya sauce. Heat til jam blends in and then add a can of pineapple. Put chicken back in and heat til sauce thickens a little...doesm't take long really. I server it over rice...also make the same sauce and put it with homemade meatballs.

I like shepherd's pie.

2 lb hamburger (ground beef, turkey, pork-whatever ground or leftover meat u have)
1 can of cream soup-your choice-I like tomato
2 lb mixed veggies-canned or frozen
1 lg onion diced
spices that u like-S&P, garlic, onion powder, tarragon, basil anything really
Mashed potatoes to top
Shredded cheese garnish

Brown hamburger, drain grease, add onion and cook to clear. Add mixed veggies and stir in soup. Place this in a greased casserole dish. Cover with mashed potatoes and cover casserole dish with foil. Place in 350 deg oven 30-45 min until bubbling. Remove foil top with cheese return to oven to melt. Everything is in the same dish except the bread and dessert. Serves a crew!

i have a quick meal my kids love its called skillet hamburger. u fry up as much hamburger as u need and it gets brown throw in some chopped onions, pickles cook it all together drain the grease mix in mayo and put on hamburger buns get some chips and ur done.

some chicken tenders cubed and cooked

minute rice, for however many portions you will need,

add cream of mushroon soup with one can of milk for each can of soup you use

mix and season to your taste, we use Johnny Season Salt,

Done, it takes about 15 min to make!

how about a cookie recipe?

1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
"thats all" no flour, just the peanut butter egg and sugar...
mix well cook @ 350 till brown 10 to 12 mins
don't forget to criss cross with a fork...

I get already made pie shells from the refrigerator section at the grocery, get a can of potatoes, peas and carrots, can of chicken (usually white chicken breast) a jar of gravey and put the pie together with all ingrediants, viola, your own easy shepherds pie (add spices if you wish, I usually just add salt and pepper)

Baked Talapia



Preheat oven at 350 degrees. I line a cookie sheet with foil (for easy clean up) and put 1/2 stick of butter on cookie sheet and melt it in the oven. I put the talapia on the cookie sheet and sprinkle with lemon pepper seasoning. Bake 20 mins or so until its done to your liking. I serve microwave baked potatoes, a veggie, and 5 cheese texas toast with it. Simple meal thats yummy!

mulligatawny chicken

makes 8 adult portions

1 chicken, cut into about 10 pieces, skinned

plain flour,

veg oil

2-3 medium onions peeled and chopped

6 tablespoons tomato puree

2 tbl mild curry powder

1 1/2 pints chicken stock

1 large apple cored and thinly sliced

1 carrot peeled and thinly sliced

2 lemon slices

3oz sultanas

1 bay leaf

1 dessert spoon brown sugar

coat chicken with season flour, fry in veg oil, drain on kitchen towel and place in casserole dish

fry onion, stir in tomato puree, add curry powder,2 tablespoon flour cople min over low heat then add 1/3 stock mix well

add apple,carrot,lemon slices,sultana, and rest of stock

season with br suga salt and pepper. pour over chicken in casserle cover and cook for 1 hour at 180`c

remove lemon slices, take chicken off bone and serve with rice

can be frozen if you want also

Shepherd's Pie



large casserole dish

2-3 lbs lean burger

minced garlic to tast

bag of mixed veggies

large jar of beef gravy (hinz)

instant mashed potatoes ( enough to cover top of dish)



~preheat over to 350

~brown the buger in a large pan with minced garlic and drain

~while waiting for burger prepare the instant potatoes and frozen veggies

~once everything is cooked add to large mixing bowl (or casserole dish if deep enough)

except potatoes

~mix everything together with the gravy and put into casserole dish

~layer mashed potatoes on top of everything and bake for 30 minutes.

using one of the rotisserie chickens that can be found at most grocery stores, canned chicken gravy, a bag of frozen soup vegetables and a store bought pie crust my family loves chicken pot pie, it takes me five minutes to prep, and bakes for about 30-45 minutes according to the directions for the crust, but it tastes as good as homemade and is filling (especially as it gets colder) It's hearty enough for the adults and my 14 month old daughter loves it too.

I'm a single mom of 2 and this is a favorite meal of the kids, and easy to throw together when I'm really too tired to cook. You'll probably need to double, or triple, for your large group, but that would be easy to do. It's easy on the budget too!



Hamburger skillet:

1 lb lean ground beef (I use ground turkey often instead)

1 pkg ramen noodles

2 c water

1 bag frozen vegetables



Brown ground meat and drain. Add noodles, seasoning packet, water and vegetables. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 10 min, stirring occasionally.

Shrimp Alfredo Ravioli

1 lb frozen or fresh shrimp (tail off)
1 1/2 onion (optional..or more if wanted)
1 lb sliced mushrooms (optional..more or less to your taste)
1 tbls butter
Garlic to taste
Salt & Pepper to taste
1 bag frozen Ravioli (your choice, but recommend staying away from the Italian sausage...I use the 4 cheese one)
1 jar of Alfredo Sauce (Many Varities to choose from, I use the Light Alfredo or the Mushroom Alfredo)

Saute Shrimp, Onion, Mushrooms, Garlic, Salt & Pepper in Butter until Shrimp is pink & firm & onions are opaque.
While cooking Shrimp, make Ravioli according to package (boil in hot water 15 mins)

When Shrimp is done, drain Ravioli. Mix Shrimp, Alfredo Sauce & Ravioli together. Add Salt & Pepper to your taste & serve with Parmesan Cheese.

This makes enough for 4 good size bowls. Can make more or less depending on your family size.

I love to throw a whole chicken in the crock pot in the morning. Just put it on low, sprinkle on some seasoned salt, and walk away for 6-8 hours. It will take 2 spatulas to pull it from the crock pot (it will fall off the bones) but, OMG delish. Make about 3-4 bags of IDAHOAN baby reds instant mashed potatoes, with a bag of frozen veggies (I get the steam fresh microwave stuff). It will take less than 10 minutes to get together at dinner time. I love my crock pot because if we are all getting home at different times the food is always ready.

roasted chicken with rosemary.. very simple just pre-heat your oven to 220'C then quick marinade your whole chicken with salt, pepper and sweet paprika and drizzle with olive oil.. put rosemary inside and put it in the oven after 15 mins lower your heat to 180'C then baste every 15 minutes.. around 45 minutes its cook already.. you can make mashed potatoes for siding or boiled butter potatoes with pasley.. boiled potatoes saute in butter then just add some parsley ;p

Edamame Salad



1 bag edamame, steamed, out of the pod

1 can (or 8 oz) corn

8 oz peas (frozen, steamed; canned aren't tasty)

1 can black beans, rinsed well

1 can pinto (or kidney, or any other) beans, rinsed

Cilantro, chopped, to taste

Salt, Pepper, etc to taste



Mix ingredients into a large bowl, set in refridgerator for 1 hour or so to allow flavors to meld, serve cold or room temp.



Cheap, healthy, makes lots.

u can also ad in green peppers and all that kind of stuff or u can use mushroom soup instead of the tomatoes

this is a very simple and easy dish, my boys love it, meatballs either in gravy or tomato sauce or hot dogs, with pasta, you can always add a few herbs or spices to change the flavours over time to save boredom, hope this helps.

Our Goulash



2 lbs ground beef

3-4 cans campbells vegetable soup

Mashed potatoes



Fry hamburger put in bottom of greased roasting pan. Put UNDILUTED cans of soup over top. Spread to cover. Top with potatoes. Bake at 350 F for about 1/2 hour. My family loves it!!!! Good way to use up leftovers!
