Picky Eater - 18 month wont eat meat

My daughter is 18 months and used to eat whatever we put in front of her. She has never really liked the taste of meat (I have always had to add it to some kind of veggie) and lately it has gotten even worse. She loves, loves, loves fruits and veggies and will eat most pastas, and rice but it's getting to the point where she will refuse to eat anything on her plate if she sees meat on it. She loves chili, spaghetti and pizza and has no meat issues with those items....I can put whatever meat I want on/in those and she will eat it all....but I don't want to just keep feeding her those things...any suggestions? Oh and eggs and cheese are no goes too....

Yeah, my doctor said to just go with what works for now...but to keep trying different things and eventually she should come around. She is healthy otherwise and I just make sure that she gets lots of milk and peanut butter and beans for now....as well as the spaghetti and pizza...lol Oh and I tried the tater tot recipe suggested above....Olivia didn't eat it but the rest of the family loved it! Thanks!

She doesn't have to eat meat if she's getting an otherwise balanced diet. My son only eats meat in chi nugget form or hidden in sauces, and that didn't even happen till around the 18 mo mark. I'd say be happy to get the fruit and veg in. :)

You could try making a Tater-tot cassorole, it may help to hid the taste of the meat because it contains a lot of veggies. This work nicely for my son because he will not eat his veggies.I found this recipe online at http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/11... they have a ton of different style how to make this casserole.
INGREDIENTS:

1 pound ground beef
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can tomato soup
4 ounces can sliced mushrooms, drained
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
32 ounces bag frozen Tater Tots

PREPARATION:


In a skillet, cook beef, pepper and onion until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add soup and mushrooms.

Transfer to a greased 9X13 pan. Top with cheese and potatoes. Bake, uncovered, at 400 for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.

chicken pot pie. All you need is a pkg of stove top stuffing, leftover chicken/turkey chunks, 1 lrg can of mixed veggies or leftovers, 1 can of creme soup (your choice). Mix chicken chunks, soup, veggies together, prepare stove top stuffing. Scoop stuffing on top of chicken mix and bake for 30 min or so at 350. super easy and DELICIOUS.

For the non-meat eater, you can puree the meat or chop it into teeny tiny pieces and because the meat is white kids can't see it - I have another non meat eater and this tricks him all the time. I started pureeing the meat and worked up to microscopic pieces and now we are into actual small chunks that actually resemble meat - LOL. goodluck

Eggs and cheese are also higher-fat sources of protein. My daughter (28 months) will eat chick-fil-a chicken nuggets, but that's the only meat she will eat. Thankfully, she loves cheese, beans, and tofu.

Not eating meat is ok. Give her peanut butter or pulses (lentils or beans).
