This one hits hard for me...One reason is all my siblings and my kids were healthy weight until we started getting towards teen years, then the curse of my family popped up. Obesity runs in my family. The second is that when I was a child I had a wheat allergy and could not eat anything that had flour in it. I pretty much was starving to death. Anyone walking by could count my ribs, and let me tell you, I don't like to look at the pictures of me from that time in my life.
One of the things that my Mom and Grama use to do to keep weight on me was peanut butter and bananas. It helped and is still one of my favorite treats, but go for the all natural peanut butter, there is too much sugar in every other thing that you buy. Did you know that they add sugar to baby food? They get us hooked on sugar before we can even talk!
I was lucky enough to grow up on a farm. We grew most of the food that we ate and were healthier for it, today we don't have as many choices, and I know that my kids have suffered for it. At 19 my daughter weighs 200 and is shorter than me, and my son at 14 it 210, although he is a good 5'9'' now.
Unless your child is dangerously underweight and the doctors are REALLY concerned, don't try them to gain more weight, it could set them up for obesity.

My daughter lost a lot of weight when she was sick in the hospital. I started making her smoothies mixed with bananna homo milk and peanut butter. Or else fruit and half a an avocado with yogurt and juice, also spread pb on whole wheat toast, lots of pastas, Avocados are amazing for kids and full of healthy fat! plus full fat yogurt! Dont get your kids things like Mc Donalds or chips or junk like that!

Most people would try to "make" a child gain weight by eating unhealthy and processed foods. As long as your child's diet is balanced with whole grains (not processed, white flour products), dairy and plenty of fruits, veggies and lean proteins, they are fine. Unless the child is severely malnurished, I wouldn't be concerned about "fattening" them up. Many children are just small or thin and turn out to be healthy and proportional adults.
