But if someone is asking for a recipe or an idea I find it kind of rude to just direct a person to a website. Most of us are aware of how to do a web search of "soup recipes" or "what to do with leftover chicken" I for one come to this site looking for new recipes that I assume other people have made and found to be successful or to share a in a more personal way than just another search engine. I am sorry if I sound out of line but it has been bugging me.

I agree. I also look and ask for recipes here because I figure they have been family taste tested and approved. It's like asking a cousin or Aunt for a favorite recipe. A search engine is sooo impersonal. I mean it's OK to add a website but make a note like I found this recipe and many others that I like from and reference some. Like Food Network has great recipes foodnetwork.com but some that I tried and tweeked I posted because they had way to much or to little spice for my families taste and noted my recipe and referenced that website for more or similar ones.

Oops, I did just that lol. I, like someone else mentioned, love to find out about new blogs/recipe websites, etc. that I have not heard of before. I usually find the best by word of mouth (or computer). It takes awhile to type out a whole recipe, so I thought a link to it was sufficient as I am short on time(being a busy mother). I will keep that in mind though!

I don't think there's anything wrong with it if the poster has actually MADE the dish and is simply recommending a recipe they know and love that happens to be available online. The results of a google search are pretty much pointless. I'm sure your weren't referring to the former sort of response though.

Don't totally agree with this statement. I for one love to have the opportunity to have a new site, that I might not have had a chance to investigate yet shared with me. But each to their own. If I have a good recipe I will share it, but I will usually post where it came from for that reason. They might find more that they like.

I can understand where your coming from, like you said if you wanted to look at recipe sites you'd simply google one, some people are just rude and lazy.
