Can anybody suggest something interesting to introduce to my five month old son? We are just beginning to give him solid foods, and want to get him off to a good start!

I started with carrots, I would but one jar of actual baby food and if it went well I would buy the actual food and throw it in a blender. Making his food allowed me to introduce him to a whole palette of fruits and veggies that don't come in jars. He's 4 now and the only child I have come across that consistently will eat almost anything you put in front of him.

I was always told to start with the green vegetables as well as other veggies, so they are used to them before giving them abundant "sweet" foods, because if you start with those they won't touch the veggie ones...

not to intresting but sweet potatoes! My son is five months old and he loves them. They are easy on their stomach and still alittle sweet.

We're doing applesauce (buy the unsweetened stuff, you don't have to buy the fancy over-priced 'baby-food' applesauce), squash, and sweet potatoes so far. Sweet potatoes and squash are nice, since you can either buy them or make them really easily (roast until soft, then scoop out the flesh and run it through a food processor. Freeze in ice cube trays for easy single servings).
Bananas are good, too, prepared the same way Stephanie does avocado above.

I tried each different food three days in row So then you can work out what foods you baby loves and doesn't love so much. Changed to another one then started mixing them together. I started adding other things like ricotta yogurt corn peas and then meat :)

Avocados are a great first food. They are easy to prepare, too. Just mash it with a fork, or the back of a spoon for an super smooth texture. Prunes are also great, as are pears, sweet potatoes and applesauce. Have fun!
