Spring may be upon us, but Winter germs didn’t get the memo. This green immunity smoothie aka “The Green Monster” is a favorite at our house – even when healthy. Not only does it taste like a tropical island; but it ensures my little guys are getting their daily allowance of veggies!
It can been made in large batches, stored in mason jars, and kept in the freezer - perfect for oncoming sniffles or as a nutritious snack to cool off.
Plain unsweetened yogurt acts as natural antibiotic. (Yes, unsweetened because refined sugars feed bacteria and kill defender cells. And we can’t have that now, can we).
Spinach contains antioxidants and vitamins (tip: throw in a handful of organic kale for good measure – it’s the #1 cancer fitting food). Oranges + Pineapple, for an extra boost of vitamins c + d.
And what’s more? My little guys LOVE it!
2 clementines (or 1 orange)
heaping handful of organic spinach
optional: heaping handful of organic kale
3/4 cup plain organic unsweetened yogurt (kefir preferred)
1 1/2 cups frozen pineapple
1 1/2 cups ice
1 cup 100% Orange Juice (fresh squeezed is even better)
