Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs sirloin steak; cut into strips (top round, bottom round, any thin steak, you can use the pre-cut stir fry strips)
  • 1 Large or 2 small green bell peppers; cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 Large yellow onion or 2 small; cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water (optional)
  • 6-8 servings cooked rice (I use instant rice)

Preparation

  1. Put the sliced meat in a bowl and add soy sauce, garlic, and ground ginger. Let it marinate while you cut the vegetables into bite-sized pieces. Set aside the cut vegetables.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet until hot. Add the meat and stir-fry until nicely browned turn heat to low cover and continue to cook until meat is tender, stirring occasionally (don’t let it burn or dry out). Add the onion and Bell peppers. Cover and continue cooking until the vegetables are done.
  3. Combine cornstarch and Hot water, add to stir-fry and boil until it thickens.
  4. Serve over steamed rice.
