• Raspberry, chocolate, sour cream layered together in a simple dessert that just has to be tried!

Ingredients

  • two chocolate cake mixes (gluten free works well)
  • one large tub sour cream (approximately four cups)
  • one cup raspberry jam
  • one cup of chocolate sauce
  • two to four cups fresh raspberries
  • four cups whipping cream
  • two tablespoons sugar

Preparation

  1. Early in the day, or the day before, prepare cake mix according to package instructions.
  2. Once cake is cook, cut into large cubes.
  3. Line the bottom of a large casserole dish (or a clear bowl if you want to see layers) with cake pieces.
  4. Drizzle half of the chocolate sauce over the cake.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix sour cream with raspberry jam.
  6. Pour sour cream mixture evenly over cake pieces.
  7. Sprinkle most of the fresh raspberries over the sour cream mixture, reserving a few to garnish.
  8. Drizzle the rest of the chocolate sauce over the fresh raspberries.
  9. This can be covered and refrigerated until time to serve, even overnight.
  10. Just before serving, whip fresh cream with two tablespoons of sugar.
  11. Spread whipped cream evenly over the layers, garnish with a few fresh raspberries.
  12. This dish can also be made with strawberries.
  13. Replace fresh raspberries with fresh strawberries, and raspberry jam with strawberry jam.
