This Sesame-Ginger Seared Ahi Tuna is the first meal I ever made for my husband when we were dating. Every time I make it for us, it always takes me back to that exciting time in our lives of new love. It isn't over complicated, but definitely a special meal with lots of thought and flavorful components. I like to make this dinner on the anniversary of our first date and we always open a special bottle of wine and talk about the night we met.
Rinse and pat dry the tuna. In a small bowl combine olive oil, sesame oil, lemon juice, ginger, soy sauce, salt & pepper. Whisk ingredients to combine. Dip both sides of tuna steaks in mixture and place in a food storage bag. Pour remaining mixture into bag and let marinate for one hour.
In the meantime, whisk together sauce ingredients and set aside to allow flavors to marry.
Spray a non-stick skillet with cooking spray and heat pan over medium heat. Place steaks in pan and pour remaining marinade over steaks. Cook first side approximately 2-3 minutes depending on thickness of steak. Turn steaks and cook 2 minutes making sure not to overcook steaks.
Serve over brown rice and top with sauce. Remaining sauce can be refrigerated and used as a salad dressing.
