Well ladies, the bill has passed and will be sent on to the Senate!!!

Not sure how I am feeling right now. Paranoia is a biggie right now. I have all of these thoughts and fears swimming like crazy in my mind. I am scared to death, for my family including my son! I fear a new revolution will take place in this country. A much needed one (maybe), but it scares me that the past is repeating itself.
The Founding Fathers have to be rolling in their graves and I hope they are haunting the "yea" voters in their dreams tonight. I won't be having any dreams because I can not sleep.
Next step is let our voices be heard since apparently our Congressmen/women did not, by not doing what the majority of their constituents wanted. Start calling and emailing your Senators! Send thank you's to those in Congress who did vote no. Educate yourself. Don't rely strictly on the news. Read!!! Read books that were written years ago about the events in history that happened. Don't rely on what the liberals put in history books that you read and were taught from in school. Join Tea Party movements in your area and go to the rallies. Educate yourself about the future candidates in your area. Start at the local level to bring this country back. If your state is one of the ones passing legislation to "opt" out of the federal program, go support it. Start your calling, emailing and rallying to let them know we want them to pass the "opt" out bill.
We, as a nation, need to get back to basics. Family first, church and community, support the troops. Go to work, don't let others give you a hand out. Be truthful and respectful to everyone who crosses your path.
God bless you all and keep you safe during the journey we are all taking because of this historical damage to our society!!!

Melissa, I did not mean to sound as if they are ONLY doing the jobs Americans won't do. I guess I could have elaborated on that a little bit more.
In PA, I have not had to experience a big problem with going to, example, Burger King and being served by an illegal. Americans play a major role in accepting the illegal operation. We must also place the blame on the employers who hire them cheap. We need to crack down on those companies!!! Since the administration isn't doing much about the problem, then we as citizens need too. Now I am not talking about grabbing the keys to the truck, the shotgun, and a mob to round them up and send them to the border patrol (of course that may work, lol), but we can stop using the companies that hire and "employ" these people. Use a painter, contractor, or whoever that does not employ illegals. Don't go to the Burger King if they employ them. I know that sometimes you just really want a Whopper, but when you go there knowing that they employ illegals you are doing a lot of condoning yourself. Call labor and wage, the INS, the police, the mayor, the congressmen, whoever will do something about it. It is illegal for them to be here, treat it as a crime (which it is), you would call if you seen a little old lady getting her purse snatched.
I can't fathom the fact they want to give them benefits that we as tax paying citizens can't get! They make it such a process to get any benefit coming to you, yet they welcome these people with open arms. Do you know how many "refugees" are in this country also reaping the benefits of all of us? If they would spend a little more money on the real issues here, then maybe it would better things in the future. I've always said the same thing about the welfare system or registered sex offenders and things along that nature. Hire people who actually go out and investigate things instead of sitting at a desk and deciding things because of what a little piece of paper says. Would it cost money, yes, in the beginning, but if you cracked down and got rid of those who violate the rules of the land, then there would be less money wasted on those who don't need it or getting it illegally. Going off subject for a second,...Sex offenders are one of the most disgusting people walking the face of the Earth. As part of their punishment (or treatment, what a joke), they have to register as a convicted sex offender, but yet they are not monitored properly. How many repeat their actions? Shouldn't the mind, body and spirit of a child be protected at any cost? I am unfortunate in having to deal with this process. My niece was a victim and let me tell you the laws in place and how they handle it really need to change!!!
Instead of all of this reform, they need to enforce the laws already in place. It's just like the gun laws. If you enforced the other laws in place then you wouldn't have a "gun" problem. Accountability is a huge problem with humans these days.
Sorry about the rambling and scattered thoughts on my comment. I have not had enough coffee yet. So in order to save you all from further agony, I will stop now, lol...

Stephanie,

I don't agree with the argument that Mexicans are here only doing the jobs that Americans won't do. I lived in San Diego for 3 years and Phoenix for 3 years and I can tell you first hand that they ARE TAKING American jobs that Americans WILL do. In Phoenix, there were TONS of American contractors (painters, carpenters, landscapers, etc) out of work because Mexicans were taking the jobs. Business were paying them under the table because it was cheaper. The Mexicans don't have to pay taxes on it and the company doesn't have to pay taxes on that employee. So instead of paying the American $15/per hour they were paying the illegal $10/per hour. The same thing happens in fast food chains, etc. Arizona had an epidimic of unemployeed highschool kids because they could not get a job. Arizona passed a law that you cannot employ an illegal and if you do and you are caught, you will loose your business license. All of a sudden TONS of illegal Mexicans are no longer working these jobs, and you start to see highschool kids working in the fast food restaurants again and other Americans back to work. Let me tell you, it was nice to go to Burger King and be able to fully understand the person taking your order. I know in other parts of the country, alot of African Americans are making the same compliant; Mexicans have taken their jobs. It's not that Americans WONT do the work...they just wouldn't do it so cheaply because we pay taxes and live here.

I know we cannot just pack up all the illegals in this country and send them home. I've made the argument that we can make them citizens that way they are contributing to taxes in this country. However, they would still be hurting the economy. Americans earn their living and then spend it here...helping our economy. Mexicans that send all their money back to Mexico are not reinvesting in our country. I feel that if we had over citizenship, that the people need to prove that they are helping our country (they cannot be on welfare, SSI or medicare - which they have no business being on in the first place since they are not citizens). They have to be actively employed, have roots in the community, and they have to show a desire to work, live and reinvest in OUR country.

Hi ladies,

Michelle Malkin just did a piece on her blog about the "violence" the "Conservatives/Republicans" are supposedly doing. It is very interesting to say the least and not one bit surprising. She has a Facebook page and it was posted this morning. Melissa, your husband is not far off from his statement.
As for the "illegals"... I have a problem with the whole scheme of it. But since it is such a big problem to contain, I think this would a better solution, of course fine tuning would be needed, but this is just a general overview. Majority of them cross over to "work" in order to send money back home. People yell that they are taking jobs away from Americans, but quite the contrary. Yes they are taking American jobs, but they are doing the jobs that Americans won't do, such as farm hands and laborers. Look at all of those jobs the lazy, generational welfare collector could get have, but will they, NOPE! It would be easy to say give the illegals their citizenship and let them keep working, and then send the others (lazy Americans) to Mexico in their place (that was my first idea). I say, give them work permits to pass the border, give them each a number (not SS#), let them work and tax them on it, federal & state tax. Don't allow them to collect any type of benefit, since they wouldn't pay into SSI or Medicare, etc. They do not get a yearly refund either (fee for being privileged to do this program). They would need to implement a way to keep track of them so they don't just say they are here to work and really they are sucking us dry. The jobs would get done, more tax money coming in, etc, etc. Like I said it would need fine tuned, but it's a good start. And this just does not focus on Mexicans either. Any person not a citizen who has no intention on becoming one who just wants to reap the benefits without working for it, it should apply to them also. In PA where I am from assistance eligible persons are: US citizens, refugees, and certain lawfully admitted qualified aliens. It also depends on age, pregnancy, disease, handicap, etc.
Keep up the good work ladies!!! Continue to educate yourself and then your friends and neighbors. Go to rallies, meetings, & town hall debates. Be open minded, a lot of people do the straight party vote, you may surprised at what the "opposite side" supports. Of course you never know if it's a wolf in sheep's clothing!!! Support your community, help your neighbors, hold a door for someone, lol... Stay informed, not just now when the time is bad, but always, because if it doesn't kill us this time the next time may. Teach your children too, for we are fighting for their future and they need to fight for theirs and their children to follow!!!

Laura, I understand your anger. I was really angry too. I'm not surprised by the acts of violence either. I find it amusing that the representatives are like "we don't condone violence, words are powerful, so use your voice to speak out". Yet we have been speaking out for a year, and they ignored us. I don't condone the violence... but they shouldn't be surprised. I think they WANTED it to happen so that now they can point fingers are the Republicans again. My husband tends to have odd theories on occassion, but he made an interesting comment yesterday and I would like to see what others think of it.

My husband goes, "Wouldn't it be interesting if it turned out that these acts of violence were actually committed by Democrats or members of Acorn as a means of distracting the public from the Health Care issue and trying to focus on the "Republican's" violence". He said that there were many instances during the presidental elections were Democrats and Acorn were showing up and trying to make Republicans looks bad by yelling racial or derogatory epithets. Now, I'm not saying that this DID happen in this situation as there are LOTS of angry Republicans right now, but I also wouldn't put it past some of these radical Progressive groups to try something like that.

@ Charlotte - I agree that we need to have heart. I'm hoping that these lawsuits are successful and our Supreme Court does what is right and Constitutional and what isn't in favor of a Progressive swing. We shall just have to wait and see.

I've had to wait until today to post and I still don't know if I can contain myself. I was furious to hear they passed this bill. The arrogance is amazing, I'm not surprised-not that I condon it-that those who passed it are getting death threats. What does it take to get your representative to listen-death threats? The thing is that everyone agrees that something needed to be done but they did not want to listen to any Republican ideas. Not that we wanted to have it all our way but come on, to close us out of all discussions, why was that necessary other than that they wanted to push an agenda that they didn't want others to know about? The back room deals that are still in the bill, the arm twisting, the naked Rahm in the shower, the closed door negotiations, the shmooshing on Air Force One at the White House, we could do this all night...how does this not raise a red flag to the supporters of this bill? How can we trust a Government with our very personal health care when they do stuff like this? My husband just got back from the tax guy and between this bill and what we owe in taxes I'm ready to just give up. He looked at me and said that next year ( which is the year all my kids are in school and I was going to look for a job anyhow) I need to look for a government job. Yeah, that's what they want isn't it? We will all eventually be government employees, union workers, or poor and in their minds therefor vote Democrat. This will break the backs of the small business owners but never fear there will be all kinds of new beaucracies to administer the health care cr*p we'll all go work at that. Oh wait those are reserved for the ex Acorn workers soon to be IRS workers. Who wants the IRS expanded? Let's quess......ah yes people who have never owned a business or worked in upper management or are just clueless to what it takes to keep a business afloat in this country. Blahhh, my head just keeps exploding over this.
Gianina, I'm not surprised at all about what you experienced with immigrants. I do believe that there are a good many that are well intentioned and our immigration system makes it near impossible for Mexicans to be legal but I do believe there are also plenty that take advantage.

Hi Melissa, I came from the Philippines and graduated from 'International High School'. That is where I learned about the American History and BOY I love your history that I even got A+s straight through the year. I learned the English language very early in my childhood (although my grammer could be improved still)...anyway, I came here legally and followed the Law to a 'T'. My hubby (from MI) taught me more on politics because he used to be a lobbies. Let me tell you that I get extremely upset with the illegal aliens. I saw first hand how they 'disrespect' our ways..they even have this attitude of "I'm entitled". When I had to apply for my autistic son (back in PA).. I saw these mexicans waiting to get their 'welfare' and what they said could BLOW YOUR MIND. One said 'don't worry, we'll get the money and don't have to work for it". It's just unbelieveable. AND when I had to apply for the medicaid for my son, it states under the immigration - " don't be afraid to state if you're legal or illegal". WHAT, does that mean that 'regardless' the illegal CAN get medicaid????

Since your parents are Democrats, how do they feel about what happen now? Super curious to know.

This is such an interesting discussion. I was so angry on Sunday and then further so watching our President sign that monstrosity into law on Tuesday. I angry because every one of those members of Congress KNEW that the people did not want this bill. Since our representatives apparently no longer work for us, they are not there representing us. As a result, this bill is "Taxation Without Representation". Anyone remember why the Revoluationary War started to begin with? Our country was tired of being taxed by England without any say. It's going on again but on our own shores this time.

Obama and his liberal puppets have a plan: eliminate the middle class. Put forth so many entitlement programs and levy so many knew taxes that the middle class is strangled. Once the middle class is depleted, we are back to a class system: the wealthy and the poor, with no chance of ever rising above where you started. This is NOT the American dream.

My family were old school Democrats, but they taught me a few things: 1) Work hard for what you need, work harder for what you want. 2) Never accept a government handout. You never want to give the government power over you. 3) Take responsibility and accountability for your every action. 4) Help those that CANNOT help themselves when you are able.

I was not taught to give every dime I make to someone who WONT help themselves. Those people that the same opportunities in life I did. This health care bill is just another way to make the lazy communities happy at the expense of hard working Americans.

Gianina - I agree that this isn't the only problem taking place. The Democrats KNOW they are going to loose this November. Hence, they will start working on an Amnesty bill next week. If they can grant Amnesty prior to November, they now have millions of new voters, whom most will vote Democrat, to keep them in office. They want a government take over of all student loans. With that comes their ability to dictate what college you can and cannot go to and eventually what those colleges will teach. Soon, everyone will be reading the works of radicals and liberals.

The Republican representatives plan to file suit against this bill for Constitutional violations. So far 13 States are filing suit as well. There is an Amendment that states that if a matter has traditionally been handled by the states, the Federal Government has no business interferring. Insurance has always been handled and mandated by States and now the Government is trying to step in and dictate everything, but at the COST of the State. It would be like your mother telling you (as an adult) exactly what you are going to buy with your money. I doubt that would go over well either. So the States are saying that the Constitutional prohibits the Fed from becoming involved. If the Supreme Court doesn't uphold this and thus nullify this bill, the States can try and veto the bill by getting a 2/3s support behind vetoing it. But this is hard to do. However, there are 31 states right now with legislation out there to opt out of this bill.

We'll see what happens. Keep this bill in mind, but don't forget to investigate other areas as well. If they grant Amnesty at this point, we could very easily loose our ability to get these guys out of office. I do not mind people coming to our country the legal way, it brings diversity. But I don't believe it's okay to reward them for breaking our laws.

Christa, I meant for the Reconciliation Bill, sorry about that.
But then I got to thinking that right now they should pass the reconciliation too because the actual bill that was signed in is the bad one that they had to make a reconciliation bill for. If it doesn't go through then it will be even worse. So they need to pass it and then they need to get litigation really going to have it overturned or thrown out, however you want to put it.
We still need to keep up the pressure tho. There are so many things they are trying to do right now. I heard that H. Clinton was at the U.N. trying to come up with some sort of gun law. Something about banning small gun ownership or something. Did anyone hear that or know anything about it. I haven't tried to research it yet.

It's not going to the Senate, it was already passed by the senate. Obama should sign it into law today. It's a sad day for this country.

However there are several states planning to bring lawsuits against it saying its unconstitutional because it bascally taxes/penalizes you just for existing. That's uncontsitutional. Also several reps are trying to repeal the law (I'm not sure what that process looks like). Also several states are drafting legislation to opt out of the bill. So there is hope. . .

Yes the bill has passed and I'm sure the Dems are soooo happy.

Don't get me wrong here, I believe in helping out but I don't believe for those who take 'full advantage' of the help.

I am telling my children to change their views... 'not to be successful because the government will eat them alive, and not to have children because the government will eat them alive as well.

Just wait, the taxes will sky high even for those under making 200.
