I just read an interesting fact - I always hear about the Republicans being the "Party of the rich", but I just read that 8 out of the 10 wealthiest members of Congress are Democrats - very interesting!

I have never looked into the research on it, but what I can tell I live in a very conservative state.... I hope and pray it stays that way. I can say that my state is definitely not as wealthy as a blue state. I think that conservatism and giving go hand in hand. Conservatives have been down and out, and have had to work hard for what they have, so they are more inclined to give when times are good because they have been there. It just seems the liberal way to me for them to want to use the government to help out the poor, rather than helping the poor themselves.

I do feel that conservatives and liberals do have more in common than they think when it comes down to it. I just feel that they differ widely on how to get it done... meaning conservatives want to do it themselves, and liberals want the govt. to do it.

I've heard that before. Back after the 2000 elections the radio guy I listen to had a segment about a giving survey that had been done or something. It was a studdy that looked at the giving records based on taxes and other public information that showed Red states being more generous but also less wealthy than blue states. There have also been articles and things published about how on average a liberal makes more than a conservative. I also remember one that talked about where the money came from. A conservative was more likely to have earned their money and a liberal to have inherited or married it. Go figure.:)



A more recent one, I'll have to look these up again, discussed what certian politicians gave in the last few years. Let's just say that B.O. and J. B had obismal records.

Based on everything I've come across so far Conservatives make less and give more, liberals make more and give less.



Charity is voluntary, socialism is forced.
