President Obama made a promise to Planned Parenthood last year they expect him to keep.
He is quoted as saying, "The first thing I'd do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA).That's the first thing I'd do."
FOCA Would Wipe Away Every Restrictionion Nationwide
This would eradicate state and federal laws that the majority of Americans support, such as:
Bans on Partial Birth Abortion
Requirements that women be given information about the risks of getting an abortion
Only licensed physicians can perform abortions
Parents must be informed and give consent to their minor daughter's abortion
FOCA would erase these laws and prevent states from enacting similar protective measures in the future.
For those of you that do not know, partial birth abortions are a completely inhumane procedure, that breaks my heart to even explain it...but here it is:
THE PROCEDURE: A woman can choose to have a partial-birth abortion when she is 5-9 months pregnant, and no sooner. This involves rotating the baby so thats it's feet will come out first, unnatural in the first place, delivering everything but the baby's head. The doctor then takes a large pair of scissors and inserts them into the back of the baby's head, pressing through the skull. He opens the scissors making a hole. Then inserts a suction tube into the hole, and sucks out the baby's brains. The baby is now dead and completely limp.
Because the baby is 5-9 months, they are nearly full term, meaning that their brain and heart are nearly fully developed, and their body parts are just reaching completion. The baby is alive. They have a heart, they have a heartbeat that is clearly noticed, and they have a brain. Just because they are unable to speak, does not mean they aren't saying no.
Partial-Birth Abortion has been done for years in the United States, legally. Several bans have gone through the Supreme Court, but has only been considered, and eventually tossed aside.
These abortions are purely elective. These women do not get a Partial-Birth abortion for health reasons, but simply because they changed their mind.
These babies are kept in buckets. Stored in rooms. ONCE LIVING BABIES, now numbered, dead, and they never had a chance.
There was a ban placed on Partial Birth Abortion in the United States in 2003. This ban states that it is illegal to perform partial birth abortions. However, some medical clinicians refuse to abide by this bill claiming there is no exception for Partial Birth Abortions performed under the circumstance that the mother's life is in danger. The ban was upheld in 2007.
President Barack Obama voted against this ban both times it was presented to him. He believes that a woman should have the right to choose, alongside her doctor, what is best for her. He has also been reported to defend infanticide.
I never actually knew what a "partial birth abortion" was until recently. Now that I know, it pains me to no end, and the thought of it immediately brings tears to my eyes, just as it does now as I'm writing this. I'm so moved by it that I want others to know about this and take a stand against it as well...
Every day when I look in my son's eyes, I thank God I have him. And I don't know how anyone could condone this cruel, brutal, and heartless procedure.
