Will You Be Watching Obama's Inauguration?

I'm planning to watch, because of the historical aspect, but know I'll get fired up. Maybe I'll just leave it on in the background after I watch George and Laura leave on Marine One...

I wish I could say that I respect our president, but

1) He hasn't done ANYTHING yet for me to respect him.  As a matter of fact, he hasn't DONE anything yet.

2) He fliped floped on so many things that his actions would have to be prettey consistent for a looong time before I can believe him at all

3) He is a hypocrite.  His inaguration was a perfect example of that.  You don't tell people that you are "one of them" and then create this big production that cost millions.  And the saddest thing is, one part of this whole hoopla that was actually important, he screwed up on.  OMG, if this is not a preview of things to come, I don't know what is.  He couldn't even repeat the WORDS of his oath.

Not only I don't respect him, I don't trust him.  I can live with a president who I don't agree with, but it is much much much harder to live witht the one I don't trust.

I hope and pray for a miracle that the next 4 yrs will be painless for our country and that he doesn't do a lot of stupid things.

What! I didn't watch it, so I didn't know that! This is just ridiculous. God help us all.

I love the double standard, they booed Bush at his good-bye ceremony and fawn and faint over Obama and tell us we need to bond together and come as one and meet them in the middle, yet they see nothing secular about booing Bush???? No I did not waste my time watching the inauguration. They yelled about how much Bush spent on his inauguration yet they spent 5 million more.

In a financial crisis, no less.

OMG...I'm SOOOO glad that I found this forum!!! :)  I live in Obamaland (I live in IL), so my husband and I obviously are the only Republicans in a 100 mile radius! LOL

I had the stupid inauguration on in the background...once I started hearing Aretha Franklin "singing" (she sounded more like a cat on a hot tin roof...what the heck happened to her voice?) I completely lost interest.  OBAMA IS NOT THE MESSIAH!  I mean really, this crap is getting OLD!!!

Then I found out my stepchildren were forced to watch it in school that day....are you kidding me?  So, a kid can get expelled for praying in school, but teachers and faculty can shove politics down there throat?  I think it would have benefited them more if instead of watching TV during class, the teachers actually taught them how to spell.  Our 13 year old can barely spell a 4 or 5 letter word.  Ridiculous.

I have been cynical too.  We arent alone in our thinking.  My good friends have been saying the same thing.  I even have a couple of friends and I will say that i agree with him, that he is looking more like the antichrist everyday.  I first thought that when I saw that speech he did in Berlin a few months back.

Jesus said people would be deceived, its amazing how many people who are deceived, how they cant see, its right in front of their face.

I cant pray for the guy either.  I am praying for God's will for our country, but I cant pray for this guy .  I never thought I would say that about anyone, but im really having a hard time with this.

I watched some and I realized that my heart was growing evil towards him and I was sad when Bush was leaving so I basically stopped watching after that. I of course believe in nothing he says, but then again I'm trying to remember that my trust is not in my President but it is my duty to be praying for my leadership. I hate it that my heart grows bitter and angry it doesn't set a good example. I have to remember to suck it up and get over it and just watch and pray.

Hi Everyone!

I listened to the speech which I didn't intend to do. I was listening to Rush and he had it on..Needless to say I am still ill with all that and what I have seen today.

I NEED CONSERVATIVE FRIENDS!!!

Apparently, everyone I have known in the past that has caught up with me here on FB is a liberal. I really thought I was the lone Conservative out there. Thank God I am not! I think we should stick together and if you think that as well, please request me as a friend...

Nancy Beck-Newell from Reno NV..

I watched at work, with some Dems! I was only happy about seeing history. There are so many misinformed liberals out there, that I can't stand it. A girl, who wasn't even old enough to vote for G.W.Bush, was very vocal about wanting him to "hurry and leave". Oh, it just went all over me. They just don't know. Change is coming.

I don't think I've ever talked politics with my daughter, she's 8 so she's slowly just starting to get into why we have a president and a congress. Now she knows my feelings about Congress! (And Bill Clinton, LOL)

I'll respect the office of the president but Obama will have to personally earn my respect. Respect is something you earn, not something you demand.

I do worry about Obama. His views, his experience, his flip flops and lies he's gotten caught up in only increase that worry.

As for respecting teachers, I understand the need for that but I don't think children should be forced to watch something like this. I have the same issue when teachers order kids to read books that go beyond their personal beliefs.

We are not disrespecting Obama, he will be disrespecting us and our grandfathers, who fought to keep this country free of socialism, with several of his plans. He works for us, remember! I do not teach my children to disrespect authority, but to question what is right and wrong. Afterall, the president is not Jesus Christ, he is a man who is very capable to make many errors.

Had it been any other democrat that won i wouldn't be so upset but obama just isn't what this country needed and i just hope he doesn't mess it up so its beyond fixing.

I respect the office he holds but i do not respect him.  He is friends with a terrorist and said our military is air raiding villages and killing civillians.  I can't respect someone like that.  He lied about many of his views when his record clearly proved what his views really were.  He said what he needed to so that the idiots would vote for him but he is a disgrace to this country.

MLK JR  was a republican so chances are obama isn't his dream come true.  I don't think MLK would have wanted someone to get elected just because of their skin color.

I completely agree with you about respecting him because he is our president. I won't do to him what the liberals have done to Bush. But I disagree with this being MLK dream come true. His dream was that people would be judged by their character not the color of skin. He was elected because of the color of his skin. Had he been white or another candidate been black he probably wouldn't have been elected. That's my opinion.

Hmmmm... it is very interesting to read the comments here. Wow! I just joined... and I wasn't going to comment. I guess maybe it is my age as it doesn't look like anyone here is as old as me.. ha! But I did watch yesterday. It was a history making day no matter how you felt about Obama. Truly Martin Luther Kings dream being brought to fruition and what this country is about. You missed a historical moment and one we should be proud of.

Just because I don't agree with all Obama stands for (and trust me... I mourned on Nov. 4th!!!), he is our president. I hated when people did not honor President Bush... and I believe that the decision was made on Nov. 4th and now we need to honor and pray for President Obama.

Also... we would not allow our children to disrespect their teachers or others in authority... we need to be careful what we are teaching them by our actions.

Sorry if I offended anyone... but felt the need to say it.

A friend of mine, who lives in Texas did get to see President Bush as they returned to Texas. They drove two hours and stood in front of the stage for six to see him. Her friend got to shake his hand!! Lucky dog!!!!

I mean his followers think that is going to happen that we aren't going to have to pay our bills or take responsbility for our action? I must not be on the " OBAMA" list! See, we were preached at during the campaign to "look past his color", "look past his race" and if you do that then just another man took office today. Did y'all see where a child of MLK got offended when a commentator said that Obama has fulfilled the dream of MLK? I don't blame them. I think MLK's dream was bigger than just Obama in the White House.

I think what im most tired of is the rap about how historic this is. True it is, but so was Clarence Thomas. He was the first black man on the supreme court and because he was on the wrong "side" he was called an uncle Tom.   The stock market doesn't seem to believe in all his "Change" either. The poem reader today took me back..What did that poem mean? They complained about how much the Bush inaguration cost  four years ago yet no one in the media bats an eye when we see figures in the $145 million for Obama's.  Biased? You betcha.. CHRIS MATTHEWS YOU SUCK!!!!
