I would love to work in OB or in the NICU. I have been applying for OB positions for over a year and keep hoping I can transfer one of these days. I have been taking the classes needed. Nurses don't ever leave the L&D jobs at my hospital unless they retire, so they come up few and far between. I currently work on a step down unit from ICU and it is so crazy busy. We get all the strokes, drug and alcohol overdoses, head injuries , Mi's if the cardiac floor is full and the trauma that does not qualify for ICU. I get tired of the craziness and not so nice people. It would be nice to work somewhere "happy" for the most part. I know OB has its downs also, but I would love to work OB. You are very blessed to work at a job you love. I love the people I work with, I would miss them a lot if I transferred, my job is what I could change in a heartbeat. Nice to meet you!

no OB currently, but in the past - currently in a peds/family practice clinic - have also done travel nsg, nursing home, home care - a little of everything trying to find the right spot - I have 2 kids work full time -also on facebook - when I'm not running or playing with kids -

No. I work in a nursing home. I've been there for 2 years and spent 5 years in ortho/rehab prior to that. I have been a nurse a little more than 7 years and in in the business for 13. I can't believe it's been that long. Most days I can not say I love it. It's brutal, but fun sometimes. Oh, BTW, I am Jill and I am a fellow facebooker. I am a mom to 2 kids and an Aunt to one. I'm usually on line, but when I"m not I'm in the back yard with the kids, or reading.
