I have done two 1/2 marathons. it is great isn't it.....i bought some spikes off QVC last year, used them alot to run on a trail with snow and ice. it was great. sparked a new interest in winter running. not many people out doing it. you can find spikes anywhere on line. good luck

Congrats on your first half! I did my first one a few weeks ago as wel!

As for running in the winter, get some good warm running gear. Tights are a must. If it gets very cold where you live, you might want some with a fleece liner. Hats, vests, jackets, smartwool socks, thin gloves (my hands get too hot with heavy gloves) and light and mid-weight long sleeve technical running shirts. Technical gear is so much more important in the winter. You need to get that sweat pulled away fromyour body so that you don't get too cold. Keeping your core (chest) warm is also very important. Also, if you plan to run in the snow and/or ice a lot, you might want to get some yaktrax or something similar. They go on your shoes to give you added traction.

Winter running is a blast, I love it!
