Shorts that don't ride!

Alright... feel free to laugh! I was very bored by the end of my pregnancy and attended one too many holiday parties resulting in ten pounds of extra "mommy" weight after giving birth to my son in late December. While my old running shorts fit, they aren't at all pretty since they ride up my new "fluffy" thighs. Did anyone else have this problem (tell me I am not alone!)? Should I use baby powder? Should I wear compression shorts (although the thought of wearing them at this weight is downright scary!) until I lose the weight or buy running shorts in a larger size with a longer inseam? Can anyone recommend a specific brand and short?

Pearl Izumi makes a great compression running short. It's not too short and it has a lite rubber trim around the legs to hold the shorts in place.

I've been at this for a few years, and many clothes later. My favorite types of shorts are tri shorts. They have an band at the bottom, and they don't ride up. Once I started doing tris I got used to those types of shorts.

There is no laughing going on here. I feel your pain. You probably look great now!

I'm having a horrible time with mine too. I feel like all the fabric is in the back by the time I take 3 steps :) I'm looking into a running skirt because they have the leg hugging shorts underneath but then the skirt hides the parts I don't want to show off! They come in a variety of great lengths too.

This is funny because I just had this problem yesterday...and I totally let it ruin my run. I had my baby in January :) Anyway I marched to old navy and got a pair of their running long shorts...they go to you knee.Tried them out this morning and they were much better. They have some stiching that takes away from the spandex look :)

I've always had problems with shorts running up and my legs then rubbing together (yuck!). I now wear my yoga pants to run - they're nice & long and don't ride up!

I totally know what you mean and it's really annoying. I just went running today and tried out my triathlon shorts under my running shorts. Since the running shorts were touching other material they didn't get stuck as much and my triathlon shorts were tight to my skin so they didn't budge either. It was really great. I don't think you have to have triathlon shorts specifically, but try some tight ones with a hem around the leg that is a type of material that won't roll. Maybe ask a sports store. My shorts and tank weren't expensive, though. I got it off ebay and payed 20 for both and they are great for running. The brand is zute, I believe. Good luck
