I am a parent educator tasked with helping a mom with epilepsy come up with a safety plan for her to safely parent her 3 year old toddler. She is on medication to prevent seizures but still will experience petit-mal types (I hope I am using the correct language/spelling) that leave her disorientated and confused for upwards of 5-10 minutes.
Her concern is that if she and her son are outside when she has a seizure that he will be in harm while she recovers. The siezures are very light and the vast majority of people would not recognize that she was in the middle of one unless they knew what to look for. But after she comes out of it, she often times doesn't know where she is or what is going on around her. She currently doesn't drive because of the illness.
Currently, the team is looking at a LifeLine like product but I am looking for any at home ideas that you can offer to add to our safety plan. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
