I don't know if everyone here makes there own homemade doughs and finger paints. I hate store bought play dough, #1 I don't know what's in it, #2 probably not edible and #3 I have a one year old who eats EVERYTHING. I thought I would post a few recipes.
*Cornstarch finger paint
mix 2 c water and 1/4 c corn starch, add a few drops of food color, mix well. Let them paint away, a high chair tray makes a great canvas.
*Edible Play Dough
Mix 3 c powdered sugar, 3 oz room temp cream cheese, a few drops of food coloring, and any flavoring you like. Mix well and let them have fun.
*Play Dough
Mix 1 c water, 1 T oil, 1/4 c salt, 1 c flour, 2 T cream of tartar and food coloring in a pan (preferably not a really nice one, we have a play dough pan). Heat over med. heat, make sure there are no lumps, it takes a little while but the dough will pull away from the sides and get a different look, hard to describe but you'll understand when doing it. When its all the same consistency dump it out on to a counter or cookie sheet and let cool for a little while then knead well and let them have fun, my kids love to play with it while it's still warm. Store in baggies at room temp, keeps for a long time but not sure on exactly how long because mine gets yucky and I throw it out. By the way this recipe deters eating due to it being salty, my daughter will not eat it. Hope everyone has fun. Thanks for the ideas!

My mom used to make a playdough out of equal parts of peanut butter, honey and flour. Children under 2 aren't supposed to have honey, and it can't really be colored, but we always had fun with it!!

Thanks for the tips! I will have to use the finger paint recipes as buying it is SUPER expensive!!!!
