So this is a neat idea I thought.

You need:
two pieces of blank paper (printer paper works great!)
an empty file folder
glue
crayons
ink pen
2 dice
coins

So you take the two pieces of paper and draw a path on them with squares (like in candy land) In each square draw a shape (diamonds, circles or triangles).

When you are done, have your child color it.

Help your child glue it into the file folder so when the folder is open it's a gameboard!

Use the coins as your markers. You can say, I'm the penny, and your the nickel

This game helps with counting, addition (if you use 2 dice for older kids), shapes (always say what shape you land on) and coin recognition!

Here is a link to a page on my site about making a board game about books you read with your child.

Wonderful idea to modify it!!! I love it! Thanks!

You could also edit it for younger children and do colors with color cards (you may need to help with the coloring so each square is a different color though).

That's a GREAT idea! For older children instead of shapes you could do numbers, the alphabet or the such!!! Thanks for the idea!!!
