My first grade son is having issues with another 1st grade boy. This boy has been in every class in every grade that my child has been in. This boy does not think he has to follow rules or be nice to the other children because his parents are both teachers at the school. This child treats other children very poorly. He asks other kids to tie his shoes. He calls other children bad names and tells them they are stupid. When playing games he yells and says "foul" if another kid does something he does not like. All these kids in first grade just love him though and all want to play with this one boy... I don't see why. When someone tries to talk to these parents the parents get very upset and say things very immaturely and go to the principal and then the principal just pats them on the back and says it's okay. My son has chose to pick his battles with this kid and will walk away, but then all his other friends stay and he feels so sad... If this was your first grade son, what would you tell your son and how would you handle the situation?

I would try to explain to you son that just because his other frineds don't leave, that doesn't mean he is wrong. If someone is treating him poorly than he should try to avoid them. Also that sometimes the right thing is not always the right thing. I have have a first grader as well, so I feel for you. Hope all works out.
