thanks for the email our eldest son sam cannot talk or communicate with anyone apart from banging his bottle and choosing a photo of what he wants ie drink, food etc and he still wears nappies and he is 7years old. i do change his bedding 2-3 times a week depending on whether his nappy or hes been sick in bed, i also use vaporiser that you can plug in when he has a cold but the boys share a bedroom so it also the youngest child to breathe if he also has a cold of cough thanks claire

The environment that kids share isn't always going to be 100% germ free.. we live in a world that needs germs in order to function. Getting sick is a fact of life. It's also that time of year that kids get sick most. ( late fall to early spring)

You can help them avoid most issues with illness by going down the dreaded list that everyone is drilled with over and over again.. " wash hands!, use a clean kleenex and discard promptly, take a daily multivitamin, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and go to bed early when suspicion of illness arises. "
To ward off illness when it does arrive, use a humidifier, and a " scent ball" ( or one of those humidifers you can put essential oils into. A scent ball is like a glade plug in, except you use a blank insert, and dab your own oil onto it. When I bought mine, it came with 6 different blank cartridges and I keep them in an old face cream container. I dab some eucalptus, peppermint and clove onto the cartridge and that combined with a humidifier works well to bring up any flem and other nasties. It's not a pretty smell, so I usually put it on before bed and it helps to relax and fall asleep. Alos, i'v got a herbal vapo rub that my daughter screams for when sick, it helps her so much!

You can encourage your children to also cary a personal size antibacterial no-water sanitizer. They can come in different scents too like lime and coconut.

Wash their bed sheets more often as well this time of year. Just in case they carry soemthing home, you don't want it lingering.

You are not alone, and it won't just go away... but hope it helps :)
