my daughter is 4, and i have been having terrible problems with getting my daughter to go to bed. I try to have a set schedule at bedtime for her, but because of my work schedule, that makes things difficult. there are some nights when she turns over and goes right off to sleep, but there are other nights when she is up until midnight kicking and screaming so hard it makes her sick. she used to go to bed and have a sippy cup of milk and a movie, but we just recentlly changed that to having a cup of water on the nightstand for if she gets thirsty. i admit, she still has the movie at night tho. i try telling her that the tv will go off when its over, but as soon as i do it, she starts screaming. any suggestions as to how we can make bedtime go smoother, let me know.

My son had a hard time going to bed too when he was that age. TV is known to stimulate the mind, so some kids have a hard time watching tv and then falling asleep. I would suggest reading a book with her, sometimes when I read books to my son he would fall asleep while I was reading to him. :) If not I would lay with him and rub his back until he feel asleep. At that age they are sometimes afraid of the dark so night lights and stuffed animals help to make them feel like they are not alone. I also made sure that my son didn't get any suger i.e. juice at least 1 hour before bedtime.

I saw this show today about having trouble putting kids to bed.. They say give them two tickets that allows them to get up only two times and when their tickets are gone they can not get up.. I don't know how well that will work but it can't hurt to try.. I know that having a routine will help. There are times that the routine will be interupted but stick to it as much as possible this helps them. I always do dinner then play time then by 7pm its bath time then t.v. til about 8pm brush teeth and to bed. I have seen that t.v. time during sleep time is depriving them even more.. I don't know but I can't let mine watch tv during bed time they will stay awake to watch the t.v. But good luck and just try to keep up with the routine.. that really helps..

good idea ola hall i usually keep my kids up around 4,5 and 6o'clock then at 7 take a bath and read them a story. But during the day i let them play with there cousins this helps alot because they are so active by bedtime they are tired. Good luck
