Hey girls-

We have a five year old daughter who still, at night, wants to come get in mommy's bed. Since daddy works third shift, I'm finding it more nad more difficult to get her into her own bed full time all night. Any suggestions?

My 7-year-old does the same thing. We don't mind, though -- we like the extra snuggles :)

Co-sleeping for me is not an issue. My 4 and 2 year old still occasionally co-sleep with us. Could you put her bed in your room for a little while and reintroduce sleeping in her own room slowly? Or let her fall asleep in your bed and move her to her own bed afterwards?

Crawling into the parental bed is a natural and normal milestone for most children who have been transitioned to their own beds and rooms. It's a comfort and soothing instinct for children.

Mine does too! Does she share a room with siblings? Mine does- actually right now all my kids are in 1 room; father-in-law is in the boys' room. Anyway, I got my daughter a new blanket- her choice within reason- that was her special bed blanket. It is magical but only works when it's on her bed with her in it. It doesn't work everynight; bad dreams, scared, sore legs, etc. But she is getting better. And 5 is 5, if she was 10 then it'd be a bit much :)

My parents had the same problem with me when I was little. They told me if I wanted to sleep in their room I had to sleep on the floor in my sleeping bag. Eventually I figured out it was more comfortable in my own bed than on the hard floor

I also have a 5 year old and he will go to bed fine but almost always ended up in bed with me I asked him why and he said because he missed me in the night I have now been putting a shirt under his pillow that i have worn so when he misses me he will hug the shirt so far this has worked pretty good but before that I would put him back to bed and this also worked but then of course he was very quiet about getting into bed with us and sometimes I did not wake up to put him back to bed. Good luck this is a hard one to break but so far so good for us.
