Our pediatrician told me that I needed to completely revamp my 5 year olds eating habits and retrain his taste buds. She said to send raw veggies like carrots, celery and broccoli in his school lunch. I know he will not eat those. Any ideas on healthy foods for lunch that I 5 year old will eat?

Ya I would have to say those are not typical foods. Those are once a great while foods.

It sounds like you will need to change a lot more than your child will. Do crockpot meals that are set up the night before and turned on before you leave in the morning and are done by the time you get home in the evening.

Snacks for school do cucumbers with a little italian dressing, celery w/p'nut butter, carrots with fat free ranch dip, granola bars, dried fruit, fruit cups.

Spend a little more time at the grocery store and you will find loads of healthy tasty options for snacks.

I agree with Sherri, the crockpot is great. I actually just started using mine more, I found a bargain priced book at the book store that's just full of crock pot recipes. I stock up on meats when they're on sale.
For school snacks we pack string cheese, fruits, or a raw veggie. My son loves raw peppers they're very sweet. My son is 5 also if I make something he doesn't like he has to eat 5 bites before he can say he doesn't want it. By doing this he's actually started eating foods that he didn't like before.
One of the other things I do is cook extra and freeze the leftovers so on some other night I just need to heat something up.

Typical foods: pizza, happy meals (after soccer), chips, cookies, mac & cheese, hot dogs, lunchables (I know these are bad but they are so easy with my schedule), cheese sandwiches, ham/cheese sandwiches. He will eat nibblet corn, baked chicken, field peas and I did get him to eat 2 green beans night before last. He spit the 3rd green bean out. I've started packing apple sauce in his lunch box and no chips. He is completely on water or milk now - no capri suns or coke products.

Your not saying what your child is eating so I have no idea how to help you.

Theres vfusion and v8 splash that have veggies hidden in them. There are a lot of kids foods that have multigrains hidden in them. What does he eat now? My daughter loves peaches. In the produce section you can find them in the little cups but these dont have them put into that sugary syrup. syrup
