As many others have said there may be an underlying medical issue so talking to his doctor about it is definitely in order.

I have had the same issue up to this last year! My daughter is now 10 and we fought the battle for a long time. I even went as far as going to the doctor just to see if they had any advise and of course they go to extremes and want to give her a shock bed so when she started to go it would shock her! I wasn't thinking that i was willing to do that just yet! We continued to do the same things as you are but then would wake her up about an hour and a half into sleep and she would get up go to the bathroom and never even remember doing so. After about two months she started to wake up on her own and go the bathroom! No more middle of the night catastrophies! YEAH!! Good Luck hope it will help!

I had a bed wetter too. Purchase something special for him. Something he really, really would like to have (not necessarily something expensive). Place it in a spot where he can easily see it. Tell him when he has gone 14 days in a row without wetting the bed, he can have it. Then get a calendar and let him "X" off the days until he has had 14 successes in a row. A wet bed means you start all over. My son turned it around within a month.

I feel your pain! I have a 9 year old daughter that still "goes" in her pants! it's so frustrating. I have had her to every doctor in town and even some specialists out of town! I don't know what to do either...

Hi Terri,

Your child maybe having some emotional issues which is causing him to pee the bed. Since he is 9 and can express his feelings to someone, have him assessed by a child psychologist and possibly stop peeing the bed.

The reason I know this could be a factor is that my older sister used to have the same problem at that age and she was taken to a psychologist and shortly after the problem went away... Maybe your son is being bullied and you are not aware of it, or worse...

Good luck Terri.

there be an underlying problem my nephew wet the bed numerous times while his mom and dad we're going through a divorce he was 9 or 10 at the time if there isn't a high stress situation contributing to the problem maybe try setting an alarm that goes off every few hours or something to bring him out of his deep sleep so he can feel he needs to go before he has an accident
